"That's right! We've got waterproof sunscreen!"

A smaller hand pointed an accusing finger at the sun, right next to Kamina's. Orihime grinned, glancing up at Kamina, then back at the sun. They'd show it who was boss! Or, really, Kamina would. Orihime just liked the theatrics, they were always good fun.

It was still hard to believe they'd actually graduated from high school. That meant leaving the old life behind and starting a brand new road. Careers, college, part-time jobs...and somewhere down the line, a wedding too! There were dozens of college applications left to fill out, but it was nice to take a break and have some fun with her friends.

She held up the bottle of sunscreen in her other hand. "You did remember to put it on, right?" she whispered conspiratorially. "Did you get your back? The ears? And the back of your neck?" Nothing like heat stroke to ruin a fun day at the water park, so it was best to take precautions.

"Eeh? I was s'posed ta put it on?" Kamina questioned, rubbing his chin as he pondered if he had remembered Orihime saying anything about it, let alone wondering if he even needed it. Most likely the answer was no.

"Oh well! Not like Kamina is gonna let some sun beat him down today! It's a day for some fun in the sun and some chillin' in the pool!" he boasted, crossing his arms over his chest as if he was denying the UV rays the chance to give him sunburn.

Orihime laughed. "It is!" she agreed, turning over the bottle to squirt some of the lotion into her hand. "I just want to make sure tomorrow is just as fun. And if you get badly burned, it's going to hurt even to lie down." As his fiancee, she was devoted to protecting him from such things. He could handle the opponents who required physical punching!

She swiped the sunscreen over his back, sweeping her palm in wide, firm strokes. Besides, she thought having someone rub sunscreen on your back felt really nice! They could enjoy this. "Here," she said, holding out the bottle. "Rub it on any place that's going to see a lot of sun, I'll take care of the spots that are hard to reach."

"Yeah yeah." Kamina agreed as Orihime continued to apply sunscreen on his back side. The sun didn't really seem like much of a bother to him at least, but no point in making people worry he figured.

As she coated his back, he squirted a ample supply onto his hands and made a few quick smears across his chest, arms and legs, not really caring too much on getting all the detailed areas at this time.

"All right! Now that we got our sun shields, time ta get our splash on!" He shouted, hoisting his bottle triumphantly into the air.

Of course, the park being packed also meant long waits for the food, as Ashley had discovered roughly fifteen minutes earlier. She really didn't want to stand around for half an hour just for one stupid hot dog, but it looked like she had no choice. Why was it so slow, anyway? The things being served were so simple that they shouldn't be taking this long, even if the line was a few dozen people long.

She glanced back to the woman standing immediately behind her, who shook her head. Apparently, the long wait was beginning to irritate her mother as well. Neither of the two could decide if it was fortunate that her father had work despite the holiday and didn't have to put up with this, or unfortunate that he couldn't be here and enjoy some time off.

Simon sighed at the crowds. Of course he'd expected there to be a lot of people here, he just hadn't thought there'd be this many. From what he could see the lines looked long. He hoped they'd move quickly.

He faintly heard a familiar voice over the noise of the crowds and followed it to its source.

"Hey Aniki! Orihime! Pretty busy huh?"

Orihime turned her head at the sound of her name. It took her a few moments to spot Simon, but it was pretty obvious when she did since her smile multiplied in brightness. "Simon!" she called out, beaming from ear to ear as she began threading her way towards the younger man.

"It is! It's great, isn't it?" Orihime liked crowds, truth be told. The enthusiasm and excitement was infectious, and she loved hearing people squealing and laughing as they enjoyed the rides. It only made her that much more eager to try the slides out for herself. "Have you been here before? It's my first time at a water park, hee hee!"

Simon moved to meet her.

"Really? I went to the old park they used to have when I was little, but I've never been to this one. So you looking forward to trying out the rides? Look's like there's gonna be some long waits."

"Oh, I don't mind!" she laughed, moving at a more sedate pace now that she'd joined forces with a friend. "I love the sun, and if you have someone to talk to when you stand in line, that makes it a thousand times more fun!"

Orihime held her hands in front of her as they walked, scanning the crowds for signs of Kamina. She'd only left him just a little while ago. Maybe he was already heading for the Rabid Bear Slide. It seemed like the sort of name he would love.

"So have you lived here in Clairbourn all your life?" she asked, smiling up at Simon. As close as he and Kamina were, Orihime actually knew very little about him.

If it hadn't been for his hair, it's possible that nobody would've recognized Jio, since for once he wasn't wearing his signature scarf and trenchcoat (although that was only because it was too small now, not because the logic of wearing a coat and scarf in the summer had finally hit him). Instead he just had on a gray T-shirt and black swim trunks, along with the ever-present fang marks on his cheeks.

He looked around with annoyance at the huge crowds and tried to find someone he recognized or, failing that, for somebody he knew to recognize him.

Kaguya... was sitting on a beach chair or something like that. With all the long lines for the water slides, she didn't want to just stand around waiting, so instead she was already playing her DS.

...

Also, she's wearing a Japanese style school swimsuit.

Passing by on her way elsewhere, probably headed to some quieter corner of the park, Ashley caught a very brief glimpse and had to ask herself who in their right mind would bring a DS-let alone any electronics at all-with them to a waterpark. No, wait, that was a stupid question. She did know one person who would do such a thing, no matter how stupid and reckless it was considering where they were.

So she stopped. And stared. And then, in the boring, unamused tone that was likely considered her personal trademark by now, she asked: "Really, Kaguya? Really?"

Kaguya paused her game, looking up.

"Of course!" she replied, not embarrassed at all.

Though, she wasn't sure what Ashley was talking about, but that wasn't an important detail.

Ashley sighed. "I can see bringing it to a regular old amusement park if you aren't going to go on any rides, but at a waterpark? What happens if you get that thing wet?"
