The Flowers That Bloom in the Spring, Tra La...

I wonder if laiksmarei and lariope remember a brief conversation we had about fusing together Harry Potter and The Mikado?

This is what's been happening around my SE Michigan garden.

Suburban Lawn Masters and I are at odds, as I love dandelions.

Hellebore! Call Severus and let him have first pick. :D

A few dandelions I can stand for a while before popping them out with the weeder-thingy. My neighbor's lawn has so many - it looks like he growing a crop of them on purpose. ;)

Yeah, I wish Severus would harvest my hellebores. Then I would lure him into my lair with tea and biscuits... *heh, heh, heh*

The hellebores really surprised me this year because they've never had any more than two or three blooms. Might have to separate them next year if I'm lucky.

It's big enough I can cut a branch or two for inside use without harming the overall health and appearance of the shrub. Makes the house smell heavenly, almost better than cookies. :D

Can't grow lilacs well in California. That's odd. It's tough here in zone five, especially for tender plants in the winter. But the lilacs were so strong, I could smell them about twenty feet away. Lovely.

Thanks, Dix. Knew you would appreciate it. I couldn't believe how developed your roses are at this point of the year. We have nothing like that up here. Spring bulbs, flowering trees and shurbs are the only blooms one sees.
