Not sure what it stands for (possibly Ministry of Transport). It's the annual roadworthiness test that cars in this country have to go through. The car goes in for the test, gets failed on whatever (could be anything really: tyres, exhaust, brakes, etc), goes back to the garage to be mended, then put through the test again to pass it and be certified.

Mine failed spectacularly, on almost everything as far as I can tell. So I owe £270 to the garage, to be paid tomorrow.
