Nice to hear from you! I'm two years behind in writing an "annual letter" but I post here occasionally.
Children age, I've learned to knit a little, our silkworms have now completed their 4th generation. I'm doing cub camp with Peter this week, and I just signed up to be Amber's daisy leader in the fall.
Hi! I was just looking you up to see if I could get your e-mail address from LJ and realized that I never replied to this comment 4 years ago.
As for the silkworm cocoons, I baked some in the oven with the intent to spin them into fine thread, and the ones that hatched we made silk hankies out of. We then took the silk hankies, processed them, and spun them on a real spinning wheel a friend of mine has to turn them into silk yarn. We got about 3 feet of yarn out of it, enough for a few macaroni necklaces.
I never managed to join Ravelry, and I've moved from knitting to crochet. I'm still haven't done anything exciting with the knitting, other than making hats for the family. I've mostly made blankets with the crochet.
Can you send me an e-mail at beth@slimy.com? I have a friend who is considering moving to Amazon, and I don't remember if you used to work there, but you might know people who do. He's concerned about the culture based on internet stories. --Beth
