Ah? Which image looks dull? Dull as in boring or dull as in no colour? I always hope to further my (somewhat simple) techniques, so any technical feedback is welcome ^.^

i meant the color. see how the banner pictures look a bit grainy and the colors are washed out compared to the icon pictures. try making a copy of the picture; sharpen it, then either soft light or darken (depending on the effect).

most scans from CLAMP artbooks are washed out if anything.

i learned this the hard way and hopefully i made sense. :P

your rayearth icon looks great btw.

*nod nod* mmm. Yep, that makes sense. I try to make the focus of the banner the icon so I really cut the colour on my banner images. I'll have to be a bit braver and give it back some colour so that it is more equal to the quality of the icon. (Because, of course, washed out and grainy is very not cool!)

I'll try that sharpen and light effect! Thank you for the advice! ^.^

And thank you for the compliment on the icon! I'm glad I had a chance to make an icon like this - it's one of my favorite lines from the MKR manga: "If we fell from here we'd black out within seconds. We wouldn't feel any pain before we got our halos."
