[Code Geass] - Flowers and Crystal Gardens

Flowers and Crystal Gardens
Fandom: Code Geass - Hangyaku no Lelouch
Pairing: Mentioned GinoxKallen, platonic Scneizel+Kanon
Active Characters: Kanon, Gino
Theme: Spiritual, family, friendship
Related directly to previous fic, Candles and Frames. This piece deals with Kanon and Gino coming to terms with the aftermath of the war.
His thoughtful look was soon replaced by a flash of realisation, which transformed into a full-blown smile. “You sell yourself too shortly, Lord Maldini. I think you’ve had the answer to that particular mystery all along. You might have unknowingly been playing one of the many roles in his elaborately scripted play. I think Lelouch needed for you to be alive.” )

I totally agree with you, characters need closure. I was searching a fic about Kanon, and I confess I would never have expected to find an happy fic about him post-series, and even less an happy fic that works for me. :-)
And Gino/Kallen is one of my big loves - I don't really like fics in which every existing characters understood Lelouch's plan, it seems to me it belittles the plan in question. But since he understood because of Kallen's acts, I'm happy for him as well !

I wasn't sure what to expect in a fic with Gino and Kanon. But this was...wonderful. If a little (or a lot) bittersweet. It gave me the same feeling as the last part of Turn 25 did, sorrow mixed with new beginnings. Lelouch died, and that was awful, but life went on, just as he had wished for.

I agree with that. Many characters need closure. And Black Knights need to learn the truth and repent. Especially Ougi. *stab*

That aside, the writing of this piece was really...beautiful, for the lack of better word. The descriptions of feelings, and of surroundings, especially of Lelouch's tomb (;_;) really got to me.

And Gino, in all his obnoxiousness turned out to be really wise. <3 (I don't know how to put it better. >.>) It reminded me why I love Gino...as I had been pissed at him in the last few episodes.

And Kanon was ♥.
