Yuletide challenge fanfic round-up

I appear to have gone slightly crazy with regards to Leviathan fic-writing during the course of this year's Yuletide Challenge and somehow produced four short-ish pieces. They're all hosted at Archive of Our Own, along with some other awesome fic written by other people for the same challenge, so you should basically just check it all out, but I ( Read more... )

All of these are so gooooooood!

I really like "Immodest Proposals"... darn you for writing that; it's wonderful, and I would have liked to have done it myself! Grrr! LOL

Also, I'm very fond of "Who You Are", for the obvious reason of it having both hotness AND characterization. (Though I have to say, I don't know if I'd call "What You Are" either plottier or richer... mostly it's just longer. LOL)

Oh, thanks so much! :D This means a lot coming from someone whose work is as consistently awesome as yours! Also, I figure this whole hotness-and-characterization thing needs to spread like wildfire through this fandom, and if I can be of any assistance in this cause, then so be it...!

It's only "consistently awesome" because I don't post all of the ones that really suck. LOL

I'm totally with you on the hotness-and-characterization thing. For that matter, I'd be satisfied with more characterization, or even just more fics where they're not all talking like bad parodies of themselves. *eyeroll*

(But please, feel free to write more of the hotness. :D )

Okay, fair enough. :) I'm still a bit jealous (or maybe just impressed) how well you write Deryn's voice...one thing I discovered when writing all of these is that I'm a lot more comfortable with Alek's POV than hers, to the point that "Immodest Proposals" did not struggle its way past 100 words until it was told from his perspective. Even when writing Deryn's dialogue I'm terrified it will sound like an abomination to all Scottish people ever. (Though listening to the audiobooks has at least helped me get a better feel for writing her speech patterns.)
