Today I did something I said I would never do - I signed up to last.fmWhy? Well, I was bored. Honestly, I was at work and as it's the start of the year, there is absolutely no content coming in off newswires, so by midday I was almost ready to flash the office to break up the monotony. For everyone's sake, I signed up to this blasted site instead ( Read more... )

music, paranoia, internet, random entry, social media smocial smedia, boredom

Hey, that's something I hadn't thought of, actually. If it'll help get me off my arse and to more shows, it can't all be bad!

The combination of the icon you chose, the 'current music' on this post, and the eternal grumbling about being trapped in the internet age makes me inordinately happy. :D :D

Well, apart from the fact that I'm grizzly and ugly as sin and you're definitely not, we do appear to be doppelgängers, do we not? ;)

I had to hurriedly take of some of the ....questionable songs that came up automatically when I scrobbled from our shared laptop (well, if I'm being honest, Eva's laptop that I commandeer). Not my bag, baby. Not U2. No no no....

And wait, I thought I was the only one who was a hypocrite when it came to hating the internets and then in the next breath slobbing its knob enthusiastically? ;)

We basically are! And, man, I've been wearing the exact same clothes all week and I'm sure people are starting to notice--if anyone is grizzled and ugly at this point, it's definitely me haha.

Dude, don't examine my last.fm too closely--tons of sketchy stuff on there. I'm shameless about my love for pop. >_>

And you're not... oh ho ho, definitely not. I hate the internets and yet I miss it so much when I'm away from its loving embrace.

Yeah, but some pop is much, MUCH better than other kinds (yes, I will grudgingly admit that Lady Gaga is quite talented. But I will never, NEVER accept Tori Amos, no matter how talented she is - she makes me want to kill all humanity).

You gonna add me back, btw? ;) Yes I know, I'm a bit obsessive...

Signed up for it and got bored quickly. Perhaps it's better now but you know -the juggling thing.

Well, I do tend towards slight OCD or something like it when it comes to my passions, such as music. So the automatic list compiling appeals to that anal side of me. We'll see if it continues...

By now I've just sort of stopped caring about the un-privacy of the Internet for the most part - what it basically amounts to is that some people know that you are one of the billion-ish people they can try to sell things to on the basis of what you've bought before or what your favorite movies are, etc.

Yeah, when you put it that way, I suppose it's not so bad. I just hate the idea that I'm on some database. Then again, it's pretty much a fact of life now - the only way to never be on a database is to live in a cave and to forage for berries and nuts.
