I won't try to be an arrogant wanker and say "man this song is so deep and heavy and it just describes everything in my life blah blah blah"...because it doesn't. But damn if it doesn't make you feel absolutely miserable, even if you don't know the story behind the concept album, The Crimson IdolI always forget that behind Blackie Lawless' antics ( Read more... )

i have gotten into so many arguments re: the merits of the crimson idol, which is clearly the best w.a.s.p. album on both a lyrical and riffs/songwriting basis, with people who just want dirty sex party tunes.

i fully recognise that feel tho mate. embrace the "shit this song is about what i am going through, or even if it actually isn't, it's the vibe of the thing, you know, like mabo" even if you feel like a wanker whilst saying that, cos it's great to know or even think that somebody might understand what's happening in your life.

Agreed. Best album they did, at least of the ones I've heard (which, actually, aren't any past this one. Heh...). I also find it quite intersting that even on their earlier albums, amongst all the juvenile stuff (which was still awesome) there are some real thought-provoking and mature songs too. Even on the Last Command, which I think is fucking overrated, a song like "Widowmaker" just owns.

I never heard the Crimson Idol as a teen. And I'm kind of glad I didn't - I think I would've been closer to going for the razor blades if I had.

Haven't listened to this in quite some time.
Keep moving -or be still- as benefits your current demeanor.

Things will come together, just with a lack of fireworks and anything else heralding the arrival at a better place.

Maybe that's the problem - maybe the utter feeling of hopelessness in this song reminds me that I'm kind of stagnating. Eh, who knows.

Anyway, thanks mate. Funny, this post wasn't really about me - it was more how the track made me feel, not necessarily connected with anything in my life. But now that you mention it...

I figured it was deeper -but more discourse would require physical presence and pints. ;>

Few things make me as frothing mad as people who write off WASP as a hair metal band.

I used to be one of those people. I, like everyone else, was an idiot. :/
