Is "intellectual curiosity" to... pretentious a phrase to use when asking someone to fill out a study abroad faculty recommendation form?

I hate this kind of shit.

blurgh! but it's owen, so I'm trying to be as honest and ..real/relaxed about it as possible. Want to come over/hang out later? I need to make flash cards of various classes I'd take for various minors I may choose, and come to a solid conclusion, but I've spent all day alone and I'm bored!

Hmm. Well, be miss honesty, but write it "academically." Lol. I think.

p.s "After our class, one of the electives I'm most excited to take in Athens is "Gender and Sexuality in Modern Greek Culture". As an Anthropology major, I love the combination of Greek culture and gender construction/roles. Because you and your class had such an impact on me, I had hoped that you would play this small part in continuing my active interest in such topics."

What word would you replace topics with, a word less sterile or..I don't know, devoid of BORINGNESS. It seems like an insult to refer gender stuff, a huge part of owens life, as an "interesting topic"
