Ok only read this if you are seriously bored lol. I will add some pictures to this later.
KK well our flights was at 10:00 so we got there at about 12 or 1 o'clock because of the time difference. Got there and had to wait agesss for all the security checks, they take finger prints in the USA!!! And took photos of our isis' so had to wait ages there, its so cool they say "step down" when they want the next person! Lol that fascinated me!
Anyways, we come out of the airport and some bloke tried to tell us that the taxis to New York City were up this dark place, and we started walking and then realised lol, so that was a nearly! Taxi rides were soo funny, they are the worst ever drivers lol, they just switch lanes in front of cars without looking, indicating, nothing! When we were going back to the airport to go home, we were in the right hand lane but wanting to go left, there were 4 lanes in total! And we cut in front of all these cars, and everyone was beeping at us lol and the taxi driver was just making the "wanker" sign out the window lol.
Anyways, got to our hotel which was reallyyyy cool! Its like all modern, and the escalators going up to the lobby had yellow glowing lights over them, was just cool!!! Had my own lil room and a queen sized bed which was soooo gorgeous to sleep in! Had so much space lol. And I had a really good CD player in my room and a TV which was cool.
Then we went on a lil walk, ended up in Fifth Avenue, I went into Tiffanys and got sooo depressed! Wanted all the stuff in there its so gorgeous!! But soooo expensive lol. Then we went into Saks and again I didnt really wanted to spend loadssss of money on one thing and so i bought some gorgeous Juicy Couture socks, just so I could have the Saks bag, but now I love my socks so its cool. They are long ones! Then we went for a meal in a real Americany place and thennn we went up the Empire State Building, it was really dark and the views were just so amazing! I think it was 86, or 84 floors up. All the lights were just so so pretty and the city looked so gorgeous!
Then had v.v.v.v.v. long walk back to hotel and to me it was like 3 in the morning so was knackered!
Next day we went SHOPPING!!! It was sooo cool!!! We went on a search for this shop Urban Outfitters that I had found on the net, and the net showed it to have really cool clothes and when we eventually found it after about a 1.5 hour walk and eventually getting a taxi, it was shit, and I couldnt find anything!!! Never knew the road Broadway was soooo long! Then went to Foot Locker, got my converses which are sooooo cool and some K-Swiss trainers for £50! How cool is that! Then went into Maceys. Over the time I was there I bought...dun dun duuuuuuuuuuuuuun 2 pairs of Ralph Lauren jeans, a Ralph Lauren jumper, a DKNY tshirt which says "DKNY" on it and it those letters is new york city! Ummm I got a Tommy Hilfiger jumper, a Guess jacket, the most gorgeoussss scarf and gloves from Gap which I actually love lol and lotsa new knickers from Victorias Secrets, the most amazing shop ever, wish we had one! And with those I got a free dog! Lol I will take a picture of him hes so cute, hes all pink! And me converses and K swiss trainers. I think thats it. Oh and a little brown bag from Bloomingdales! Well 2 as I bought Clairey one too.
Saturday we went to the NBC studios where they film the news, Law and Order, Dateline, Saturday Night Live, ER ermmm more stuff but cant remember what. We went on a lil tour around some of the studios and got taught stuff about filming. My lil facts are (some I was stupid enough not to realise lol)
1. The studios are TINY! The reason people are said to gain 10 ounces on air is because they use wide angled lenses.
2. On the news, when they have the "busy" television screens behind, which may it look like the studio is really busy and they are all busy at work getting the news, its all just screens behind it. On this one in the NBC studio this man come in and put some papers down, and did that every minute 'cos it was just a repeat.
3. Lmao I always thought in the news and other programmes that where it showed it looking all over London, it actually did, but it doesnt, its just a screen, and when they shine lights on it, it looks real, how disappointing, everything is fake!!!
4. In each studio there is often a minimum of about 200 lights, but usually 200-300. They have to bring cooler machines in to protect the equipment because it gets sooo hot in the studios.
5. In amputation scenes and things like that, they just use a green sheet thing to cover up because then it goes see through. Like they did in Harry Potter (that was stored in my head somewhere)
I think thats it, if I think of anymore I will add them.
Anyway, after the NBC tour we went shopping and then to Central Park which was sooo pretty! And then later in the evening we went to see Chicago, it was so so amazing! Brooke Shields was acting in it who was meant to be quite famous but apparently not from my "era" as my mother said. Anyway, my Mum and Dad fell asleep in it which pissed me right off but it was still amazing! At the end all the cast stood on stage and raised at least $2000 for some childrens charity. They asked for money by selling posters with their signatures on and stuff, but then one of the cast shouted out "no this isnt good enough, we need to do something drastic" I dont actually think the cast knew she was going to do it, I dont think she knew she was either lol. And then said "we need an auction, we need to sell something, ermmm, I know, Brooke Shields earings" and she started really laughing, and then 2 people kept going up and up more and then they put in a backstage tour which would have been so cool and they sold it for $2000 dollars! And then loads of people bought posters but I had no money :(
Then on Sunday we went to the Statue of Liberty, and I learnt...the statue of liberty is green because it is made out of bronze...or copper, one of the 2 lol, and it oxidised to protect itself and it went green! See im full of facts lol. Then we went to Ellis Island where all the immigrants came to the USA and looked all round the halls and dorms and stuff..got really fucked off with this boy cos i was sitting there and he took a pic of me, and I was just like ookk and then he did it again and i went CAN U NOT and he was like sorryyyy so i walked off. After that we went to Ground Zero and it was so so sad, made me feel really wierd there, just thinking about it, and actually seeing it, a woman walked away crying, and it was just so so sad. There were these rude boys there that in England I would see and walk away from 'cos they looked really scary, and yet they were saying about what they remember from the day, and where they were when it happened and how terrible it is and all this stuff, which just showed how much it affected EVERYONE, I mean even me in England just wanted to cry it was just so so sad actualy being there, seeing it, seeing all the names on the black boards, seeing the American flag with messages from people that visited, and they were in all different languages and it was so nice that all the countries had pulled together I guess. Anyway, found out later from this old bloke at the airport that his son had been there when it happened, he had just come out of the subway and saw it hit, and because he had had medical training he ran round picking up bodies and stuff which must have been so so so terrible, and he said that this bloke from his shoe/trainer shop had been asking all the woman what sizes their feet were and just handing out trainers to them so they could run because they all had to take their shoes off, but this bloke was giving them out for free, when one of the world trade centres collapsed, but Starbucks locked their doors and wouldnt let anyone in, when this blokes son and a police officer tried to get in they refused until the policeman said "just kick the door in" and the bloke from starbucks said but everyone will want to come in" which is so fucking rude! People were dying and he was saying that, and to make it worse they actually SOLD water to the ambulance people! When this bloke in his shoe shop was GIVING away shoes, these rude bastards were making people PAY for water which sooo fucked me off when I heard so I am NEVER going in there. Anyway that was so so sad there. Sunday night was sooo good though, we went to "Ellens Stardust Diner", and it was all retro and sooooooooo cool in there, and we was sitting there waiting to be served and we hadnt realised but this waiter got up and was singing on the tables! Songs from the 50's, so all the waiters and waitresses would sing a song like every 5minutes and it was such a laugh! My Mum and Dad both had burgers and they put a bubble gum on the plate with the burgers lol, it was just soooo unreal in there!
Monday we went to Barnes and Nobles which is a book store and I got a calendar with all pictures from New York on it, and my MUm bought me a book called Love Story and a bookstore, but she spent hourrsss in there and I was soooo hot so went and sat outside with my Dad, and this bloke fed the pidgeons and then laughed at me (rudeness) cos I was running away from them with my hood up. Then we walked round for a bit and then went back to the airport via my crazy taxi driver lol. Me was really :( about coming home, I loved it there soooooo much! It showed me that the world is still a beautiful place, despite everything.
Coming home was ok though, it was a night flight so slept through a lot of it, and the air steward asked me if was a chocoholic cos i went "oohh we get a dairy milk bar" and then he came back with 2 more for me, and then later came back, with 3 boxes of handmade choccies really posh ones, and then he came back with some massive box of about 20 handmade chocolates realllyyyy posh ones for me so I sat munching through the night lol, and I watched Bewitched (movie with Nicole Kidman and Michael Caine in) and it was wellllll funny!!! Had to circle loads though which was shit cos I just wanted to get home.
Anyway what I found most strange/amazing about New York (not important things lol)
1. The drains actually have steam coming out of them, I thought that was just a horror movie thing but they really do!!!
2. The cast in Chicago sat at the side of the stage so you could see them, that would never be done in England lol.
3. They actually have yellow school buses! I was in the taxi and saw one and was just like OMG!
4. Americans are mad on Halloween! It is such a big deal out there, since about Friday they were wearing the costumes, they say "Happy Halloween" and have Happy Halloween cards and it was just such a big deal!!!
5. Yellow taxis are mad but such fun!!!
I think that is it for now. Sorry for the rather long post lol.
