I know...it's crazy. They're saying the pigeon shit is rotting the statues. Notice how this comes up after Ken bunged his mates £25m to clean up the place? I guess they don't want anyone washing the stonework, in case the whitewash runs.
Are any birds safe from the madness?clare_lydiaNovember 17 2003, 15:48:34 UTC
In worthing they are putting oil on seagull eggs so they don't hatch to keep the numbers down, although I think this is the most humane way to do this, the reason why they are doing it is so stupid.... the seagulls apparently get aggressive when they have young (what animal doesnt when they feel threatend?). This should do this to agressive humans.

If we didn't interfere with the gulls, eventually the population would reach a natural balance.
Same with people....if we don't interfere with their reproduction (and get a few billion less of us on this planet) Nature will undoubtedly take care of the problem in her own special way.
If things can't go on as they are...well, they'll come to an end (Warren Buffet, I think)
i love pigeons too! actually in brighton when i came to visit i went with my mum to feed the pigeons and there was one really aggressive pigeon. pigeons are really beautiful- even if they're often scruffy and ill, that's not their fault so much as the fault of people taking crap care of the city environment where they live. i love seeing wild things in the city...
we should organise a mass pigeon-feeding protest! :p
