In India we would watch the national parade on TV, a local parade live, and just play outside with friends! :) I guess not much different from here! Although I liked the Republic Day parades a lot more. Independence Day parades tend to be more of showing off military pride - I really don't know why. It's not like we fought a war against the Brits to throw them out. Republic Day has more cultural stuff from all the Indian states.
