1) Im not sure if its necessarily the fact that we completely miss mandy mo...or the fact that valerie has no idea what shes doing. She cant keep a beat, she doesnt know what she wants from the pieces, and the fact that she cant conduct at all doesnt help any matters.
2)why choir isnt fun isnt necessarily that we're not making it fun, but i think the atmosphere is no longer what it was. Val does not understand that we can talk and stuff and still get things done. And her strict attitiude and times does not help. Val is all business and does not even attempt to make rehearsal fun.
3)Yes, we need to figure out how not to be bitchy to eachother before i seriously become the next unibomber and take a hammer to each and everryone of us...HAHA
4)I think being a little late(5-10mins) is acceptable, things happen...but none of this 1 1\2 hours stuff unless u have a good excuse.(but then again, that only refers to one person and we all know who that is)

Dont hate me...especially if some of this came off bitchy...im tired... and yeah...lol :-D

1.) I get what everyone's saying, but complaining about it isn't going to change anything, so what's the point? Like you said last night, nothing's going to be solved unless you talk to the person. And we all know that we can't really go up to Val and be like "you suck as a director" so really, just deal with it. It's frustrating, but we're all good enough musicians to keep time ourselves ( ... )

honestly, i dont think the people reading this journal are the ones we're referring to. We need to talk to those people...and just because we're going to ireland this sumemr does not mean moschea or anyone else needs to completely change the feel of choir. I have been in a lot of touring choirs, and nothing ever changed because of a tour. So yeah, i dunno...i kind think is foolish just talking about, but i understand u needed to vent... :-/

I also posted it on MySpace, though, so some of the people I am referring to will read it (one of them is subscribed to it). But actually, some of them do read this journal, especially about the Valerie thing. I did need to vent, but I do think it's something that everyone needs to hear and keep in mind

My only experience with IFC in the past two years have been through Karl, and then through Karl and Nate... And coming in as an outsider to this chorus, with absolutely no bias towards Mandy Mo, I have to say that there is something off with the chorus this year. Its not in quality or anything, but the enthusiasm isn't there where I used to see it and I do think you're right in saying that a lot of it has to do with how Valerie is handling the music, so we need to be the one's reinvigorating the choir ( ... )

James, I love you. Period.

As for the talking to Val about it, that's kinda what I was getting at, I just have problems phrasing stuff, so yeah. EVERYONE, Listen to James :)

And no, you're not the one we're upset with, don't worry. You're fine. I mean, do your best to get there on time, but it's understandable, 'cause I'm definitely like that at times. But there's someone else who has been constantly coming in late and doesn't really have an excuse, so yeah.

We'll figure something out. Thanks for your advice :)

And no, youre not the one we're referring to interms of tardiness...if you want a clue...she walked in almost an hour and a half late and just sat and did nothing for rehearsal..not even join us. So yeah.

See ya tonight!

This is all very right, Clarkie, but the problem isn't being helped any because the people who are reading this are NOT the people who need attitude checks. :\

Yes, but I posted it on MySpace, which most of the people who do need attitude checks read :D

I agree.

First and foremost, I do think we need to be upfront and *patient* with each other - I know I've been guilty of this at times as well, but if we are bitchy with each other we will never accomplish anything. *nod*

I remember saying at the very beginning of the year that if this season is going to be fun, we're going to have to make it fun. And I still think this is true ( ... )

Clarkie, you're not our mother. You're not the only one that
cares about the future of the choir. And you're not director or
co director or w/e. You're just another member of it, like the rest
of us, and we'll deal. We have to. Its not neccessary for you to rant
on like this about the choir and its members, like you're some
guidance counselor at school who thinks we need to shift gears,
change our frowns to smiles, and stop being normal ppl by complaining.
Its just naturally what people do. It happens. Shit happens. Don't freak.
The choir isn't great this year, we all know that, and it just can't be simply
because of everybody's attitude. Thats just not possible. The truth is
is that its not that fun anymore. We WILL miss mandy mo. Natural.
We WILL groan about it. Natural. We're just being normal people and teenagers by doing so. So, back off, and recheck yourself so you remember you're not the leader of w/e of the choir.

Ben, someone needed to say it. Someone needed to recognize that its a problem that needs a solution, and that bitching and moaning about what this used to be is going to get us absolutely nowhere. Its not so much a matter of her pretending to be something she's not, and a lot more that she's saying something that someone else probably would have said.

She doesn't need to be a leader to speak out. Everyone's voice is equal, especially in the presence of a substandard leader. She said her thing, and if you have something you need to say, you should feel free to.

But it sounds to me not so much that you disagree with what she said, just more how she said it.
