It was definitely before your time, but Bronski Beat was a *huge* deal in bringing gay culture into the musical mainstream ... "Smalltown Boy" was quite the song for me. Another band from then would be Soft Cell, whose lead singer was gay. More recently, I like an obscure British group called Coil.
I can't really decide even on 3, partly because of how it's phrased, 'top' 3 gayest bands ever? I can name favorites, but are we rating them on a scale of how gay they are?
Queen's one of my favorite bands ever, but .. I'm not sure I'd say they beat the Village People, Boy George, or Elton John in regard to being flamboyantly gay.
Oh, and you forgot George Michael, in my opinion he trumps all of those bands combined.
I'm very confused now. My dad loves most of these bands, and raised me listening to this music. I wonder what this says about my dad, my childhood, and they way I turned out... at least it explains my fondness for drag!

Yeah, I post a bit more frequently here, as you may have noticed.
And I've heard of Bronski Beat, but not really heard them. I'll have to check them out.

I'm a bit confused by Rammstein's inclusion in the list, since everyone in the band is to my knowledge straight. Perhaps because of this?
