Real Time
And right off the bat, CYBERMANS!
And also right off the bat, we have Six getting ready to do some time jumping in, what appears to be, right in the middle of the plot.
EVELYN! Nice to actually see you instead of just hear you!
Wait a sec, that kid Goddard looks and sounds familiar. Is that...
IT IS! That's Chang Lee, I mean Yee Jee Tso! I knew he'd done some Who work outside the TV movie...
And there's Six's blue outfit! I must say, it's REALLY weird seeing him in monochrome. Guess now he fits in with Five and JNT-era Four.
Wait...that place is WAY too neon-colored to've been "built by the Mayans." Unless these were Future Space Mayans.
And now Goddard is kind enough to give us the whistle-stop tour of Cybermen history. *sits with popcorn*
And they're referencing other audio dramas as well as cyber-serials. Sword of Orion!
So I JUST realized what that random cat is: it's Six's cat badge. Awwww, and it makes faces!
"Cant's see anything through there. It's too dark." ...Yikes. Six, so are your eyes. WHERE ARE YOUR EYES EVEN
"You belong to us! You shall be like us!" Cybermen! With HAIR!
Half human, half Cyberman, complete with cyberspeedos and cyberboobs. I'm mostly not kidding.
I just realized that the party leader's name could be shortened to Doc Savage. Make of that what you will.
"If you do not, the hostages will be killed!"
"So? Well, that's hardly a threat! If I refuse to budge, a handful of lives gone. If I go with you and give you the secrets of my TARDIS, that's ETERNITY gone. Not really a contest, is it?"
I can't help but wonder if any other Doctors would make that kind of many-over-the-few decision. Or maybe he's just bluffing.
"Doctor, these four humans are your friends. Their deaths can be slow and painful." I see five people, so which four are his friends?
"I don't want to die anymore than you, but it's the five of us against the galaxy!" Well, at least someone can count, but no sense of scale.
Wait, "war with the universe"? The Cybermen literally waged war on the *universe*? Ambitious buggers, much?
"Agree to our terms or your arm will be removed! You only require one to operate the TARDIS."
So the Cybermen think only one person's gone inside the ruins. Ahhhh, I see what you did there.
I wonder why it's only in the past 2 minutes that Goddard's started being suspicious as hell.
Okay, so I guess the "only one person" thing was completely pointless after all. Oh well...
"You are the Doctor's companion?"
"I prefer to think that he's mine, actually."
Oh. God. What. They're actually showing a cyber-conversion happening. That...I don't even...
"I have become one of you. I have become like you." I'm going to be weird and say that probably sounds arousing to transformation fetishists
And after saying earlier that he'd let his friends die for the sake of the universe, Six gets to make a big friendship-speech. Awwwww...
"Where's the fun in that?"
"Fun? Explain."
Cybermen should be allowed to say "fun" more often.
I love watching characters try to talk humanity out of the Cybermen. It always leads to some interesting reactions.
And might I say, Evelyn, that you're doing quite a bang-up job!
Oh, hello, what's this? Somebody's holding on to their humanity?
Delta wave augmenter! Those seem to be a recurring healing device in the Classics.
Ah, Six seems to think the cyber(wo)man is faking it. That must be quite an imaginative bugger.
And the thing about noticing four hostages instead of five turns out to be a plot point! I honestly didn't see that one coming.
So Goddard WAS a Cyberman, and...sounds like a lot of wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff is about to happen.
This must take place in some sort of alternate timeline because...a cybervirus on Earth in 1947??
Yup. So much timey-wimey stuff!
"You're breaking my head!" Now that's something I've never heard before. On the other hand, my GOD is it literal here.
*squelch* .........the opposite of "your head asplode." ...holy crap......
Evelyn Smythe might just be one of the most badass teachers ever. Seriously. She's up there with Ian and Barbara, hands down.
To clarify: she's all but *laughing* in the face of cyber-conversion.
Excluding Goddard, I think this is the first time that an individual Cyberman has actually been an interesting character.
Seriously, I'm getting more and more eager to learn the history behind the Cybercontroller.
Uh oh, Evelyn's situation really isn't looking so hot, and she's taking notice...
"Oh Doctor, just for once *I* could do with a bit of saving right now."
And she's safe! For now...and the other partial-converts are starting to become self-aware?
Wait a sec, WHY is Six putting a higher priority on rescuing the jerk than he is on rescuing his companion?
CYBER-FIIIIIIIGHT!
And Six did make it to Evelyn after all. Whew...
WAIT SO MANY MORE PLOT TWISTS AND ONLY ABOUT 4 MINUTES TO RESOLVE EVERYTHING.
But for now, we have Goddard turning into a serious BAMF and BEATING THE EVER-LOVING CRAP OUT OF THE CYBERCONTROLLER.
Wait...what...did he just say the Cybercontroller was EVELYN from the future???
"Everywhere we go, you get to know people, and then they die." Awww, even his cat badge has a sad-face.
Wait...WAIT...1927...was THAT the year that the virus broke out? And if she's carrying it...WHAAAAAAAAT.
And...and that was the end. We don't even know how that plotline's going to be resolved. What is this I don't even
