Also, I can't help looking at Barrington and thinking "oh my god, it's Blackadder played straight." #peoplewholooklikerowanatkinson Wow, he does look like Rowan, doesn't he? Myself, I keep on thinking Monty Python when I look at him because I remember the actor from several of their projects, including Life of Brian.
James Robert McCrimmon is going to fuck your shit up with a stick and dramatic music. *points to icon* Don't mess with the stick.
"Jamie, I wonder whether perhaps I can pick this lock." "Aye, with a tuning fork?" Pat. Your face. Ahh, I love this joke. Previous serials' references FTW. And Pat's face FTW too, obviously.
And now we've got a hypno-monocle. Also, impressive that they're using actual German for some of their dialogue here. This and the scene with the French dude later on (plus that bit in Underwater Menace where Polly tried to communicate with the Atlanteans) makes me think the TARDIS' translation circuits were on the blink at this point.
Huh. I think that's the first time we've actually heard someone's

Aand I talked so much I broke the comment box. Have some more:
...Zoe how does draping Jamie in grenades help you at all I don't understand your plan. She dressed him up like that to get even after he made that sexist joke.
I'm just going to assume the War Chief was on his last life or he got hit so badly he couldn't regenerate. Either way, ouch. Well, for those who believe the War Chief is the Master, he regenerated after his body was removed. Took him a while if that's the case, though.
Sooooo, why exactly do the Time Lords need this misty swamp maze curtain thing in their trial building? Because it's pretty. :P
Because Bernard Horsfall later on played Chancellor Goth in Deadly Assassin, a lot of fans like to think he's also Goth in this one. Likewise, Clyde Pollitt (the Time Lord with the whiny-sounding voice who takes pity on Jamie and Zoe) was also a Chancellor in The Three Doctors, and it's been more or less confirmed by Terrance Dicks and Barry Letts that it's the same character. Can't say anything about the third Time Lord

Agh, it's been over a year since I've seen The Moonbase so I honestly didn't remember that bit until you reminded me. Yes, that was an interesting touch

After reading this week's review of Underwater Menace at Classical Gallifrey, I remembered they also had the whole Team TARDIS's thoughts as VO in that one. My memory is just as fuzzy, it seems.
I've read that David was also in Enemy of the World, but since it was a tiny cameo in that one and the episode in question was deleted, Moor has become the only case of the two Throughtons in the same episode in existence.
Peter played one of the excise officers, Costa. I'm yet to watch Nightmare of Eden, but I've read the novelization recently and for some reason I kept picturing Costa looking like the French guy in this one.
I should point out that in my personal canon Zoe managed to regain her memories and joined the Torchwood of her time, where she bosses Jack around and keeps him on his toes. As long as I keep on repeating this to myself, I can ignore Short Trips or anything Big Finish has given me about her future, really.
And as Brian Rimmer showed in one of his videos, all of Two's complaints show up in some incarnation or another of the Doctor.
Oooooh, someone link me to this please! I tried looking on BR's channel but couldn't find it. 0_o
THAT FACE. I HAD NO IDEA THAT FACE WAS FROM THIS EPISODE. AND THIS SCENE, OF ALL MOMENTS.
I NO RITE. Imagine if Ten had made that face when he found out it was Wilf who would cause his death, or something like that. XD
"The time has come for you to change your appearance, Doctor, and begin your exile."Y'know, like Jamie's final scene, I remember first finding Two's regeneration pretty silly. But, the more I watch it, the more you have no idea exactly what the Time Lords are doing to him but it causes him to cry out in such pain...it's actually pretty disturbing. More so considering the next time we see him as Three he just flops out of the TARDIS completely lifeless and alone. As if his own people had just executed him (so to speak) and then dumped him somewhere without much care. Ah, Time Lords, who needs big

The video is right here and the clip in question starts around 3:44.
For the longest time, I thought Two was saying "you're making me dizzy!" and thought it was cute. Since then I've learned to appreciate it as a rather chilling finale.
I shouldn't have forgotten about Delgado!Master, especially since Terror of the Autons is next on my list (I've already done season 7, but I might want to give Spearhead a rewatch.) But alas, I was also running out of room on my Tweet. I think.
"So I wonder if the first episode of Caves of Androzani borrowed from this: mockery of justice and a cliffhanger with a firing squad."
I had this precise thought - almost these precise words - the most recent time I watched Caves of Androzani.
And actually the same thought about the "dark foreshadowing" as well.
Carstairs & Lady Jennifer = Ian & Barbara in a lot of ways. I love them both. (I'm also impressed by the sheer number of people in this serial doing their best to look like Lenin.)
The phrase "mockery of justice" seems to be a motif in Doctor Who when it comes to firing squads. I was listening to the first part of I, Davros today which had a scene where Davros' sister said something similar when her boyfriend was about to be executed. With her in the firing squad. (This series has a lot of drama. A lot.)
Is it worth listening to? I've seen the title around here and there.
You make a very good point about "Mockery of Justice" - I wonder if it's a trope. And, for what it's worth, it usually is a mockery of justice (although how you can tell... I have Views on gallifreyan jurisprudence)
Maybe it's because Britain does not have capital punishment, and so any execution is going to already have a flavor of injustice. I wonder if this phrase extends outside of firing squads.
