When making a set list you want a good balance. play a good song in the beginning, a good song in the middle and a good song in the end. Keep in mind others have different opinions of what is "good". Because i this i try to follow what the usual concensus is. Songs that poeple say they generally like alot more than the others should not be played back to back. start with one, play another in the middle and end with one as well. The key is balance. Use the elements and principles of design when creating anything. Even a setlist. But im sure you know that already. Also try not to play two songs that have a similar sound back to back. Example "slow, fast Slow" or "reggea,punk,50's,reggea". As I said before, I'm sure you know all of this already but i thought it wouldnt hurt to give a little advice and show you waht has worked for my band in the past.
