Everyone has to have a plan....

5. Cooking. Am completely inspired by Smitten Kitchen and so want to do this and this at the very least.

6. Nevermind the total benefits of having the WHOLE bed to myself (avec les chats), complete control of the Netflix que (girlie historical shows!), and my music playing whenever I want not just on my headphones.

In a way, this is my vacation...

If you have Netflix instant Queue, you have access to the Starz minseries "Pillars of the Earth." Which so far, is less awful than I was anticipating. Not my period, but I've always had a bit of a thang for Empress Maude. So I'm kinda not minding it.

Oh, and "Lost in Austen" is very funny. I shall only insert a "norking through the nose" warning.

Hmmm, Terry Gilliam's "Medieval Lives" is worth a look.

;-)

Ooh - I saw that Pillars of the Earth is on but don't get STarz. I enjoyed Lost in Austen despite the fact the lead actress annoyed me. I've got "Wives and Daughters" up on the instant view list since I've never seen it. Also first up on the queue "Last of the Mohicans" because I want another look at the costuming and they keep playing the music on the classical station I listen to. "Elizabeth" because, it's been a while, and "House of Mirth" (again, haven't seen before) which I enjoyed as a stage production at ACT many years ago. Not that my husband doesn't like period movies, but I think it takes a little convincing...

Starz has a deal with Netflix - their miniseries appears in the instant queue one week after it airs. So, if you have the instant - you can currently access the first three episodes.

Awesome! I'm a big Ian McShane fan too, so this is a bonus!

DUDE! The cooking, can it happen while we're there (if there is time)...the goodies are calling my name. *grin*

Can't wait to see you Buttercup! BTW - Just checking on the beach plans. Fritz is OK to join us at the water, yes?

PS: The Swede is in LA on family duty this weekend so we won't be importing him for the event. However, he has sworn he will attend SRS next year and I am holding him to it. You are going to love 'im! *claps hands*

PPS: We can walk the pups together the weekend we're there (if there is enough energy to do it...perhaps with coffee mugs in hand?).

Can't wait for you guys to come visit - we can absolutely make some coffee and go for a walk round the hills of Fairfax - there's a great route that I usually go on. Mickey should be fine with Fritz (he's a shmucktelhound). Fritz can be on the beach with our without leash depending on where we go.

Need to stock up on the Hendricks, tonic, and cucumber - there is also the awesome Thai place down the road to go to.

Any word from the others on the invite list?

So far Tonda and Dav-o are in; no word (of any kind) from Steve-ma-teeve. What were your hosting thoughts; do you want the whole gang there for the entire weekend, or just up for Saturday night?

Happy to have houseguests of course - Steve has a pub crawl in the City Saturday night, but I'm thinking we need to start cocktails Friday and go from there!

Enjoy your vacation. I'll be heading out to Costume College in order to finally get my vacation from the whole family.

One of these days I'll make it out to Costume College - was planning this year, but glad I didn't due to finances. And having nothing to wear. That too.

Only need to wear street clothes. Costumes at CoCollege is optional, especially during class time when space can be rather limited. I am actually wearing a costume for the first time in many years this year. I usually just enjoy the classes and doing the Red Carpet taking photos of those going to the Gala or Tea.
