more on abortion

opposing sides claiming to know what the other thinks, are usually fishing. the issue for me is not one life, but two. the mother and her baby.

and until that baby is no longer inside of the mother's body -- for at that point that baby becomes like every other person on the earth (but not before) -- the mother should decide whether or not she wishes to carry that baby to term. her decision in regards to that should be decided by no one else, for no one else can do it. it is an exclusive, unique situation in nature, and laws (chiefly made by males) should reflect that.

that life inside of the mother is not a life like you or me. we stand on our own. the baby (or fetus) does not while inside the mother. equating the life of a fetus with the life of a person already born is nonsense, they are in very different, very exclusive, situations of life. the exclusivity should not be confused or conflated.

At the going rate, “our grandchildren”, be they biological or generational, are going to have every reason to resent us. Most right wingers can get behind that terminology.

Personally, here’s my stance: it’s none of my goddamned business. If every pro-lifer would offer up foster care for all these kids nobody is willing or able to take care of, fine, let the babies have their bottles. But I find it pretty fucking silly that the same people who embrace the death penalty and damn public welfare programs are the same ones who get all sanctimonious over abortion. It ( ... )
