Everything seemed to be going so well, then yesterday I started to get an ill feeling about my timetable. Today my fears were confirmed. Basically the course I am on stipulates that I should have no more than an 80% timetable, fine I havn't. But it was also my thinking that I would be observing classes at first then gradually building up to

There are rules about this sort of thing, rules that it sounds like your school is in danger of breaking. A chat with your mentor should be step one, followed possibly with a phonecall to your college/where-ever course co-ordinator. IIRC The school is paid a lump of cash to provide adequate support.

You are quite right, I searched through some of the notes I made when I went to the induction day at the College that runs the course, this is what they said and what I was expecting;

Teaching Load - WORKING up to a MAXIMUM of 40% time where the trainee has sole responsibility for the class, where competant to take the class.

I am so having words with the appropriate people tomorrow.
