Book Reviews for funzies

Okay, so I've been reading a lot lately. Most of these will not interest people at all, but a few might, so I'll put my thoughts here. Over the last month, I've reread all the early Poirot books in anticipation for continuing on with "new" ones, aka one I've yet to read. I'm not reviewing those ( Read more... )

Hey, I love Man from U.N.C.L.E! Unfortunately they never show it over here anymore and there isn't even a dvd box set that I can buy. *huffs* I mean, why haven't they released one yet?

Had a quick look at City of Bones. Didn't appeal in the slightest, and yeah, you can totally tell that it used to be a fanfic. Not nearly as bad as Fifty Shades (what the hell is?) but not great either. Bleh.

Did I know that? Well, either way, yay! My friend, Kat, bought the whole series, and we've been slowly watching it together. Between stints, I get withdrawal and look for fanfic or, more recently, at the novels. Two of them were highly recommended, and I got them both, but I haven't read the second one yet.

Yeah, I'm quickly losing hope that City of Bones is going to get any better. :/ I had wary hope after finding out the author, but those went downhill very quickly after I actually started reading.

I know I've mentioned it before, but possibly not to you. ^_^ Jealous! It really bugs me when box sets are released in the US but not here. The only way I could get it would be to import but that's way too expensive. D:

lol, thought as much ^_^ okay, so now that I've read the rest and it's literally a conversation we've had, I guess I really didn't need to have a second part of my comment, but for completion's sake, I'm back! XD ^_^

I'd be curious to read matched. ^_^ COB I'll reserve judgement until i see the movie. It sounds pretty back, but I've been known to enjoy truly terrible things before. Often. So often. ^_^ It may disgust me or be just my cup of tea, hard to tell.

Yay we get to hang out tomorrow! I'mma claw at the walls if I dont get me some muncle soon. ^_^

Did you want me to tape Sharknado? ^_^

I've been leaving a running commentary for CoB in a FB message with Lyndsey, basically just bitching. I'm trying to do not so much bitching with you because I still think there's a good chance you might like it. And like I keep saying, I think the movie's going to be good. But yeah, I'm totally going to have to post my stream of bitching when I finish up the review for this one. I get pissy over the strangest things. ^_^

Matched has been on my to-read list for a while. Now I really can't wait to check it out :) The YA lit class I took this past spring got me very into dystopian/post-apocalyptic YA stories. I know you're concentrating on YA books being made into movies, and as far as I know there aren't plans to do that with this one (though I could imagine it being done), but you should check out the Life As We Knew It series by Susan Beth Pfeffer. Right now there are three books out, and a fourth is coming in August. It's about what happens when a meteor strikes the moon with such impact that it pushes the moon closer to Earth's orbit, with the resulting change in gravitational pull causing extreme weather that destroys crops, tsunamis that wipe out coastal cities, loss of communication satellites, etc. I actually ended up doing my term project on it. What I love about it is that the author makes this scenario sound eerily plausible. It was the kind of book that I end up having dreams about. Really good read.

I was surprised at how pleased I ended up being with Matched considering how painful the first couple of chapters were. Still, as painful as they were, at least they were always interesting. I'm really just reading City of Bones for completion's sake. :P I really can't stand this book. When I post about it again, I'll have to share my running commentary I've been sharing with Lyndsey through FB messages.
