Changes
It was taking too long. Working with Helen was always a bad idea.
Stephen found himself pacing, aware of Claudia's eyes on him.
"That's not helping," she told him.
"I have a bad feeling about this..."
There was movement within the anomaly.
Momentarily Stephen had the strangest conviction that he'd just spoken to someone, but there was nobody nearby.
He must have imagined it. And he had other, more pressing concerns.
There were only two people coming through. And neither of them were Ryan.
He braced himself to hear the answer to the question that he couldn't bear to ask.
