It's Oh So Quiet...
The ADD was the noisiest place in the ARC, full of people coming and going, always the centre of activity.
It was Jess, her bright colours, her warm heart, the endless chatter and even the occasionally excruciatingly embarrassing comments.
The field co-ordinator looked up apprehensively at Becker's approach.
She spoke, but he wasn't really listening, barely even seeing her.
All he could hear were those final gasping breaths after the screaming stopped.
All he could see was the wrong person sitting before him.
It had been months before he felt ready to go back to work.
The silence was deafening.
