Well. Could have been worse.

Funny, though it not being the first time I've been called 'heretic', bounty hunters usually aren't too fussed about my religious denomination. Or lack thereof really.

I wonder what the future of Ivalice holds. Surely the entire world doesn't become a rabble of babbling zealots?

Hmm...

Fran wasn't with me either. ( Read more... )

yeah my life gets weirder and weirder, time-traveling sky pirates, lol fftactics

You saw something as well, Balthier?

Indeed. A shirt that I must have as soon as possible.

Oh, and a glimpse into Ivalice's distant future, but that's hardly important.

A future with good fashion? Ah, that... must be a good future then?

Is that so? You believe these visions and dreams to be truth then?

Of course not. I was the only one who seemed to have any sense of style. Of course, it's the fate of the leading man to stand out.

In any case, I believe these visions to have truth to them but not to be precise in their truth. Another of these scientists games I suppose. But I'm not keen on playing along.

...

I really wish I could tell what you were saying, along with most of the posts on here.

All you Japanese and English speakers! Speak Chinese!

I'm not speaking English, I'm speaking Archadian proper. I haven't the foggiest where this Englia is. Somewhere on earth, correct?

Wait... there are MORE ways to speak now?

Japanese, English, Archadian? What next!?

... looks like I'm gonna have to start learning one of these... eh, it'll give me something to do in between all this preparing for battle stuff!

Enthusiastic aren't you?

It seems Archadian and English are essentially the same thing. Parallels between worlds, if you will. At least from what I gather.

And what battle are you preparing for?

I'd hope better for the future of Ivalice than that. Tell me Balthier, did you... see anything of Dalmasca?

Unfortunately I have no idea where I was when the vision struck.

I doubt I'll be quitting piracy to make a living in fortune telling, good as I may look in bangles and jewels, sorry to say.

It's alright, Balthier. Perhaps it's better that I know nothing. My own... experience involved the past, rather than the future.

Oh, a future example of my usual impressive entrances and dashing heroics. Pleased to say the bounty on my head is as high as ever.

And yourself, Umi?

Haha! Well, that's pretty neat, at least! Still up to all those pirate tricks?

Mm...I got to see my friends, Hikaru and Fuu.

I would hope Religion and State are kept separate, so as no bias clouds the judgment of those in power.

How worrying...

I'm not sure how you can say that with a straight face. Bias always clouds the judgment of those in power. Honestly I'd be more worried if it didn't. The prospect of being reigned over by impartial, soulless machines than a few religious nutters.

It's a matter of knowing when one's bias is helping and when it is hindering.

Well I meant Religion and State should not bleed into the other, to the extent one cannot make a decision without considering people excluded from a certain belief.

I have always aspired to be an understanding young man who takes all into account all walks of life. I should hope I do not grow to be a man who rules in favor of one and not another.

Of course not. I'm sure you understand that quite clearly. But perhaps your successors or maybe Ashe's will not be quite so well informed.

Then don't grow to be such a man. Good trait in the ruling class is flexibility. Handy for both dealing with the law and contortionist concubines.
