The shortest way to do many things is to do only one thing at a time. ~Samuel Smiles

I look around and quickly, I can get overwhelmed by it all. Books to straighten up, toys to sort, a garage with no room for a car, closet with no meaning...

But, it can't all be fixed in one day.

I've kept this quote handy for years, "The shortest way to do many things is to do only one thing at once." by Samual Smiles.

That's a great idea - can I pay B to come pick up my cat toys that are strewn all over the place?

Also - keeping the table clear is hard. It really is.

Thanks. LOL...if we were nearby, I'd bring her by! Seriously, those cow hooves Luke chews on...that could really hurt if you step on it.

Yes, our table is the original dumping ground. I have a hutch behind our that helps, but I don't want it to become cluttered either.

That is part of all this...trying to figure out how to set small goals and figure out how to get and stay successful.

Thanks...yes, part of MY problem (spoiling and financially is I'm always buying her something. You do that too much, then what the heck do you have to do to make Christmas special? How many doll heads that you can put make up on do you need?

She is excited about earning money. She put four quarters in her piggy back tonight (for last night and tonight). I could tell she was proud.

Now I just have to make her wait it out and save for the things she wants, and not cave to helping her out earlier.

We are also working on more chores for her too...but one thing at a time.

Yes, me too! If I don't have a plan, I'm all over the place.

Thanks. Yes, we've tried and dropped it a few times. I had one point where I had to give her stickers to get and stay in bed, and so many stickers = a gift. She's old enough now to learn about and have real money.

Yay. You will feel so good when it's done and it will be so pretty. I have so many projects I need to get done. It's "git 'er done or get rid of" time!

I have bookshelves to paint in storage. If the weather is good, I may go get them tomorrow and start painting...they go in the office.

I hear you on keeping the table cleared off. Sometimes we just eat lurking over the kitchen counters, 'cause that's easier than clearing a table spot. Sad :(

My goal 1 is to get the piles of donation stuff out of the house during the next two weeks of vacation. Oh, and sell my dang car!!!

Do you have trucks there that will pick the donations up? I know Salvation Army does here. I'm also on a few calling list...like Leukemia foundation and others who call periodically for donations.

We are on the verge of being able to have a huge garage sale...but Terry hates them. I'm working on sorting donates vs. try to sell first. Don't know. I may just expedite and give it all away.

I need to get back on Freecycle too.

B's old baby bed is going to a new Mom who's house got messed up by Ike...I'm so excited that it's getting a needed home!

Yes, there are trucks that will come and I've got numbers for all the places we usually use. When we moved (both times) I made use of freecycle and craigslist and a couple of local missions to great advantage. Now it comes down to getting rid of stuff that we haven't unpacked in the year we've lived here. Kind of a sign we don't need 'em, dontcha think!?

LOL. Same thing happened to my sister. She moved, and after three years never opened some boxes in her garage. I think she finally let them go. :)
