this post, since this got kind of long trying to describe in the comments and is really just a conversation (of sorts) going on between Wally and his Gardevoir before he responds back to her later.
Wally stretched his arms as they stood outside of Diglett Cave, taking a break and some needed sun as Wally turned to his Gardevoir, standing by his side while the other Pokemon appeared to be taking this time to take a nap in the sun, save for Magnezone who was floating around with vague boredom.
"Well, I think today was very productive. And those Digletts really were adorable, even if it was a little difficult making sure we didn't accidentally trip over the little ones. I hope everyone else has been having a good week."
Gardevoir nodded at this as he took the PNG out of his pocket, noting what appeared to be a video feed sent to him from May. "Oh, I guess I must of missed this since we were so deep in the cave a moment ago. I wonder what it's about."
As the feed began to play, May's face appears on the screen, smiling brightly as usual as what appeared to be her Gallade was sitting right behind her. (Wally vaguely noticed Gardevoir shifting closer to him to see once the other had noticed the Gallade too)
"Hey, Wally! How's it going in Diglett Cave? I'm guessing the reception's out where you are right now, since I just tried calling and it told me you were unavailable--but these video messages are pretty handy, aren't they?"
Wally smiled a little. He'd have to remember to tell her about the cave soon, as the feed continued.
"Anyway, I don't know if you've heard yet, but Candice--you know, the gym leader at Snowpoint City--is hosting a dance party!"
Oh? Wally knew Candice--not personally per-say, but knew who she was as one of the gym leaders in Sinnoh. But he had no idea that she was apparently hosting a dance party.
"It's going to be next weekend in Snowpoint, and I was wondering if you'd like to be my date!"
Wally nearly dropped the PNG, coughing a bit and fumbling with it slightly in his hands before turning it back around the right way as the feed continued on as if unknowing of what he had nearly done, "I mean, I think it'd be fun to see everyone one more time before we all disappear into the wilderness again, wouldn't it?"
Well...that did sound like a lot of fun, even if Wally had never been to a "dance party" or anything like that--really, the PNG Launch Party at Silph Co. had been one of the first parties or social gatherings he had attended in a long time. But he was surprised that May wanted him to come as well, as her date even, which was a bit surprising in itself-May was pretty, she could have any guy she wanted to come with her.
In fact, he was kind of surprised that she wasn't asking her friend that Wally had met at the launch party, Brendan, to come along with her. Maybe she likes him and was too shy to ask for him to go with her? But then he dismissed this, because May wasn't really the shy type and would of asked him anyway if he would come with her. Or maybe Brendan has a date already? Yeah, that might be it...
"Oh, by the way, it's formal, so we should meet up in Celadon at some point next week to pick up some new outfits. Hee hee... maybe they should match!"
Wally couldn't help but smile at that. It would be fun, wouldn't it? May seemed really excited about it, anyway. And who knew, maybe Wally would have as much fun too, even if he wasn't quite the social butterfly she was. And in a way, it was probably a nice thing to have May as his date, since he wouldn't really of known anyone else to ask.
"What do you think, Gardevoir?"
Gardevoir nodded, smiling a bit. He knew Wally would enjoy himself well enough if he went with May. And maybe--
"And one more thing!"
Oh? May seemed to shift slightly, as if she knew Gardevoir was actually standing right there.
"Gardevoir, would you be interested in being Gallade's date?"
Wally watched as the Gallade behind her suddenly spit out the tea he had been drinking, eyes wide as May didn't seem to notice. From a side-glance, he could see that Gardevoir might of had the same reaction if he had been drinking tea right now, judging from
how surprised Gardevoir suddenly looked at this.
"Let me know your thoughts as soon as you can! Love you, Wally~!"
The feed came to an end at that as Wally turned to his Gardevoir. "...Gardevoir? Do you want to go with May's Gallade?"
At that, Gardevoir seemed to be blushing and fidgeting a bit more, which was nothing short of cute, even if Wally's Gardevoir was male. Wally could tell that it was both nervous and a bit shy about actually going with Gallade as a date to a dance, so Wally smiled. "It's okay if you don't want to Gardevoir...but I'm sure it would make Gallade happy if he had someone to go with."
He paused a bit before adding, "A-and you know, you two could go as close friends if you'd like, like how May and I are. It doesn't have to be a date date, if that's what you're worried about. I promise you'll have fun."
Gardevoir seemed to fidget a bit more thinking about it before finally nodding numbly, face still slightly red. Wally may not have been an expert to go to on knowing when someone had feelings for someone, but he had known for a while that May's Gallade liked his Gardevoir, and it seemed to be the same for Gardevoir in return due to how he acted when Gallade was around lately.
"Should I tell May that we'd be happy to come with her and Gallade?"
Gardevoir nodded again and Wally offered a reassuring smile.
"I'm sure it will be a lot of fun. I've never gone to a dance before, but at least we'll have May there so it won't be awkward if it was just us going. I'll give her a call in a little while to let her know we accept her offer, so we should probably wrap up any last minute exploring and training within the next day or so, that way we can meet up with May in Celadon in time to shop for outfits to wear..."
Thus, after chatting with Gardevoir a little more and his other Pokemon once they had woken up from their naps to explain what was going on, Wally sat down and began to send a reply back to May...
