Here be the application, if anyone ever wants to check on his BG etc etc.

Name: Ares Leander
Age: 14
Gender: Male
Species: Human

Personality: Rather snob, bratty and incredibly irriating, Ares is pretty far from the type of person people like to interact with. He's that know-it-all kid that you'd strangle as soon as he talks with you, especially considering he has a tendency to insult most people he comes in contact with. He doesn't waste a second in trying to prove how superior, smart and talented he is, and will go to great lengths to make people feel worthless in comparison. Or well, try to, anyway.

In general, he doesn't trust people and strongly believes they're all out to take advantage of him, or simply want something from him, and spends a great amount of time and energy into defending himself from that. Though he's clearly paranoid, he doesn't let his (sometimes baseless) fears scare him and instead put on a arrogant attitude in order to make people understand he's not an easy target. The more kind someone is to him, the more he feels like trying hard to be as unpleasant as possible to that person. Despite this, he's not a loner in the least, and actually seeks other people's company to a small degree, even if all he does next is mocking said company.

He acts cocky and arrogant, and whenever he manages to accomplish something, he won't waste any time bragging. If it's in a competition, he would even look down to his opponent, showing everything but good sportmanship.

Is he just that bad? No, of course not. There's several reasons Ares ended up with such a attitude, and truthfully, most of it is to protect himself from emotional damage and, since he's pretty prideful, humiliation. Ares suffers of a rather big superiority complex, which leads him to try to overcome his feelings of inferiority and inadequacy by acting as if he feels superior. In reality, he feels anything but, mostly due to the problems his heritage caused.

He's not exactly desperate for attention, per se, but he's certainly desperate to prove his worth. There's nothing he needs more than to hear "ah, you did a good job"-- but unfortunately? It's really kind of meaningless if it's just anyone who tells him, he needs to hear those words from his father; whom he deeply admires. To make it short, he has severe daddy issues.

Deep down, he feels lonely and sort of lost, though his stubborness doesn't let him admit it even to himself. He deeply in denial about a good deal of things, including that more than just his father's approval, what he really wants is a place he can truly feel as his home. Somewhere he can feel like he belongs, a place where he doesn't have to struggle to prove he really deserves to be alive.

Strengths: Ares is probably one of the most determined kids you'll ever see around. Because he's very prideful, he doesn't accept failure in any form, and even if he can't do it at first, he will keep trying until he eventually succeeds. While he's kind of emotionally unstable and ends up getting caught up in his own emotions, bringing him down isn't that easy as he keeps standing up after every single blow, no matter how hurtful.

He may have poor judgment, but Ares is actually very smart and has a rather sharp mind.

Though he isn't good at all physically wise, he at least knows how to defend himself as he knows how to use guns and has a rather good aim.

Weaknesses: Ares is pretty bratty and snobbish. In hopes to hide and overcome his own inferiority complex, he treats people he perceives as beneath him horribly.

He's desperate to prove his worth no matter what, and because of it he often loses focus on what's really important. Ares definitely has poor judgment, despite being a rather bright kid, and is way too emotional, even if he doesn't like to show it. He gets angry very, very easily, and he tends to take out that anger and frustration mainly on slaves back in his world, but the innocent bystander is anything but safe. Likewise, he gets emotionally hurt really easily too, and although he always tries to show how little he cares about everything, he actually has a hard time getting over it.

Physically wise, Ares is rather weak. He has very little stamina and isn't strong at all, and as a result, generally hates having to do physical work.

History:

Before I start with his personal history, it's probably important to describe how the world he comes from is like.

In Ares's world, there are four nations-- big enough that they're more or less continents, and those are Seresia, Dong Guo, Tialye and Trel. The power balance between them used to be even, and so the world was more or less peaceful-- that is, until Seresia found blueprints of a rather powerful weapon left by their ancestors. After many years of research, they managed to recreate that weapon and decided to test it-- someone thought it was a good idea to use it on a surprise attack to the nearby nation of Dong Guo. The damage it left was incredibly huge, enough that as soon as Seresia threatened to use it again, Dong Guo very quickly decided to not even try to fight and let Seresia take control of their territory. There wasn't a power balance in the world anymore, and really liking the idea of being superior to the others, Seresia decided that hey, they should totally go and conquer the other continents too. Unlike Dong Guo, both Tialye and Trel put up a fight. Although they both suffered incredible damage at first, as the war went on they managed to at least be able to minimize the damages. With time, they managed to create weapon strong enough to really put a fight with Seresia-- or at least Trel did. Despite the fact they could count on magic (a special treat of people from there; only Tialyeans are able to use it), Tialye ended up losing the fight for good when the leader of their country died in battle. Unlike Dong Guo, whose citizen still had rights, Tialye's punishment for daring to fight back was its's people enslavement. To this day, Trel is barely the only force that's opposing Seresia.

The belief of being superior to all other people is strong in Seresians, especially in those of high society. Though the government allows people from other nations to come and live there, showing how "civil and advanced" they are, in reality immigrants have close to no rights. In general, Seresian society is rather harsh and cruel-- believing the weak deserve to be taken advantage of, and so on.

A child who should have never been born. Ares not only is the result of an affair, but is also half serasian and half trelian. You see, his mother, a woman from Trel who chose to live in Seresia hoping for a brighter future, was a maid working for the Leander family. She fell in love with the head of the family at first sight, and being the beautiful and charming woman she was, it didn't take her much to actually seduce him.
Their affair wasn't a short one. It lasted two whole years, then, she became pregnant with Ares. Up until the day he was born, nobody knew about the two's relationship, however, with a child involved it was impossible to hide it anymore.

It was a huge scandal, one that made the prestigious Leander family lose quite a few supporters. As a result, the man broke up his relationship with Ares's mother, though she kept working for him.

Truth to be told, Leander would have preferred to completely cut his ties with the both of them, but that was anything but the wiser choice. Instead, he opted to appear generous to the eyes of society, and officially recognized the child as his own, giving him the prestigious name of the family. That generous act was the proof that even with that terrible scandal, he was admirable enough to take responsibility for the new life that was born as a result of his shameful behavior.

Perhaps Ares might be seen as a lucky child for that, but while he was blessed enough to officially be part of such an important family, he was never actually part of it. But he had no responsibility whatsoever, as opposed to his brother, and could enjoy the peaceful life any other kid could. As long as he had his mother to take care of him, it wasn't a big problem.

But those days, he barely remembers them at all.

When he was just five, Ares's mother died. It was sudden, and nobody expected that at all, much less Ares himself. It looked like it was an aggression, but the culprit was never found.
Needless to say, at the time he found himself all alone in a world where an existence like his was unacceptable.
He was still too young to understand why everyone treated him coldly, or why the fact he had yellow eye, a typical trait of Trelian people, even mattered, but it didn't take him long to realize that pretty much, everyone hated him. At first, he tried to cling onto his brother and to win his affection. It didn't really work. In the end, he came to understand that for someone like him, counting on himself alone was the best course of action, and gave up on his family.

Or so that's what he likes to think. Though he became the angry little kid he is now, in his heart, Ares kept hoping that one day, things would have turned fine. It was because of that hope that he never once gave up; it was because of it that even when he could have just stop trying, he kept working hard.
For a prestigious family like his, appearances were extremely important, and if he wanted to have a place in it he had to be the best in everything he could possibly do.
Although that wasn't exactly possible, he still achieved a good number of results, and even finished his studies at a rather early age (13). undoubtedly, if he put his mind into it, Ares was quite capable of doing anything. Except, somehow, his brother was always better than him in the eyes of his father. Though it technically wasn't Cain's fault, Ares begun to resent his brother more and more, and the fact his brother had a habit of verbally abusing him at every given chance really didn't help much.

Ares may be quite the angry kid, but fortunately, he isn't as angry as he could be. The reason? He has his slave to take out all of his frustration on. Azrel came into his life about five years ago, when Ares was nine, and although it's impossible to say the two get along at all he is possibly the one person he feels closer to.
Though he always had conflicting feelings about owning a slave, with time Ares came to see Azrel as the proof he's a seresian, and more importantly, as the proof that his father sees him as one. In his mind, Azrel is a gift from his father. As such, although a part of him had always wanted to let him go, he is very recluntact about doing so.

Because Ares was never the kind of person who could stay with his hands still, doing nothing the whole day, one year ago he insisted to be able to open his own activity, and surprisingly enough, he got his father's permission (and money).
He opened a detective agency, more or less just after he finished his studies, and though he's indeed rather talented, if completely unexperienced, things didn't go exactly well.
Mainly because of his terrible attitude, partly for his heritage, people absolutely refuse to work with him, and the only cases he ever gets are minor ones. Missing animals, wives and husbands cheating on each other, and stuff like that.

Interesting information: Ares tends to give name to his things-- not all of them, but just those he uses often. He has his own pair of guns and they're named Rozalin and Jasmine.
