My sister once got an email from a couple inviting her to a threesome, with pictures of them and all (they were regular G-rated pics). It was a Hotmail account, but according to her, her public profile was empty.

*snort* I had to use all the blocking in the world on Y!M because I kept getting IMed by weirdos who wanted to talk about what I was or was not wearing at the moment. 0_o Sick and wrong, I tell you. I am much happier requiring permission to send me messages. I will okay anyone I know but I NEVER want to hear from that sort of lunatic anymore. Bleh.

The 'what are you wearing?' question is a classic. I don't even bother to respond to that anymore (less than a week with Yahoo and 8 interested males - WHY?) just hit the ignore/block button.

But how do you avoid them in the first place? Is there something in the settings I have to check/uncheck?

I forget just what I did, but you can go into your settings and make it so that anyone trying to send you an IM must first be approved to your list by you. Go have a look. I think I probably removed my profile from the public list, as well. I was tired of hitting the ignore/block button, myself. Good luck.

That happened to me a lifetime ago, when I still visited sites like penpals and mailfriends *hides*
No matter I was around 14 and the guys, well, older than dirt is one way of saying it. Yup, older than dirt with even dirtier minds. The pervs. And me so young and curious...

Thanks, it's the third icon I've ever made. Gaah, I've been active on LJ for under a month and I already want more than 3 icons spaces. So unfair, how are you supposed to choose?
