SAG Awards #1

Jan 27, 2013 19:15

Last 48 minutes of The Dark Knight? Don't mind if I do, TNT.

TO SET THE SCENE:

@YahooMovies: 3 years running the #Oscars Best Pic has followed the #PGA's lead, so tune in [last night] if you're in an Oscar pool!

@NikkiFinke: Producers Guild Awards: Cheers erupt when 'Argo' won top film. Ben Affleck 'surprised'. PGA has 73% success rate picking Best Picture Oscar

@YahooMovies: This time in my life seems to be the peak professionally” -Ben Affleck #Argo #SAGAwards

Except for that part where they didn't nominate me for a Best Director Oscar, but, you know, it's all downhill from here, so I've got that going for me. #wait

@HuffPostEnt: 'Skyfall' & 'Game of Thrones' are early winners at the #sagawards

STUNT ENSEMBLES REPRESENT.

Meanwhile, the SAGs are basically the Drinky Oscars' Mini Me, coming in at only two hours but just as much booze. I just drank a cup of hot water with lemon and honey. Could be worse; could be BAT VOICE.

@cleolinda: Watching the end of Dark Knight on TNT. Kind of want the SAGs to be announced in BAT VOICE now.

@cleolinda: INSTANT MIGRAINE: Try to imagine how cable news would cover the aftermath of any superhero movie IRL.

@cleolinda: "Harvey Dent. What was THAT." RT @Ceilidhann: @cleolinda 24/7 Shep Smith coverage or go home.

@molliewollie: I think there would be some charm in a 60 Minutes feature as well, Wolverine and Lesley Stahl strolling through a field.

TONIGHT, WHERE IS THE SHOW? WHERE IS THE SHOW???? LIVE FROM THE SHRINE AUDITORIUM, THIS MUSIC IS LIKE MILDLY JAZZY ELEVATOR MUSIC.

Jane Krakowski's first role was as Chevy Chase's niece; today he would play his wife; two years from now, she would play his mother; she's an actor, and it's funny because it's true. Helen Hunt is an actor and something looks extremely different about her face. Hal Holbrook thought actors were weirdos until he realized they don't have homework, and guess what he is now? Alfre Woodard needed to be reminded that his name is JESUS! and she is an actor. Sofia Vergara told her father that, "with these huge boobs I inherited from your mother, I already look like a hooker." Together, they are definitely actors.

Please welcome! Nicole Kidman in her natural Australian accent (and dark blue)!

Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role

Alan Arkin - Argo as Lester Siegel
Javier Bardem - Skyfall as Raoul Silva
Robert De Niro - Silver Linings Playbook as Pat Solitano Sr.
Philip Seymour Hoffman - The Master as Lancaster Dodd
Tommy Lee Jones - Lincoln as Thaddeus Stevens

Damn, y'all weren't kidding about Tommy Lee Jones' Lincoln wig. Kidman: "Wow." WINNER: In fact, he wins! AND IS NOT HERE?

Please welcome! Bradley Cooper and my queen, Jennifer Lawrence! Five casts have been nominated for Best Ensemble, and they are one of them! Here is a Silver Linings Playbook montage for you. Lawrence is also in dark blue. I sense a new battle brewing.

Please welcome Justin Timberlake! And the fine--checkered?--pattern of his suit! It hurts my TV's eyes. :(

Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role

Sally Field - Lincoln as Mary Todd Lincoln
Anne Hathaway - Les Misérables as Fantine
Helen Hunt - The Sessions as Cheryl Cohen-Greene
Nicole Kidman - The Paperboy as Charlotte Bless
Maggie Smith - The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel as Muriel Donnelly

Aw, longtime friends Nicole Kidman and Naomi Watts are sitting together at one of the tables, which is precious. WINNER: The Hath, her bob looking unusually kicky, in a tullerrific black dress. "I'm just so glad I have dental," she says meekly (UNION! UNION!). I'm to a point where I can't decide whether her wide-eyed tremulous speeches are yet another form of acting, and, if so, does that mean that she deserves a best acting trophy for best acting at winning best acting trophies? Also, she gives props to The Dark Knight Rises, which means BAT VOICE, you guys, it is MEANT TO BE.
