I like this story, but because I haven't seen Season 6, I know I'm not fully appreciating everything in it.

He was never as good at remembering what he heard as he was at remembering what he had read

OK, that's ME!!! I have a feeling I'm really gonna like Jonas when I watch his episodes.

I wasn't sure what the kids were making until you wrote "foam ball" and then I realized they're making an orrery, but they don't call it that because it's the name of the Tau'ri Earl of Orrery. :-p

I enjoyed reading about the universal tendency toward factionalism that poor Jonas has to endure across the universe. Politics are the same everywhere. :-(

That didn't stop the Elder Scrolls series from having a few orreries... (Actually, I imagined more that they were making a mobile/kinetic sculpture than a mechanical orrery.)

I've always liked Jonas, though not nearly as much as Daniel, of course. :D

Poor Jonas never did quite fit in anywhere, did he? Well, maybe it prepared him a little better for later in life.

Thanks, and I do think he started "earnest" early :D

The wisdom of children, eh? (and ouch!) Very good insight into Jonas and the man he becomes.

A little knowledge can be a dangerous thing, but too little knowledge...

Wouldn't be surprised if Revis grew up to be one of the guys blaming Daniel for the incident in the naquadria lab...

Ah, a lovely scene. Even at such a young age we could see the interest he had in his world. Really nicely done :)

In his world and beyond it, too. This guy was looking to the stars before he knew there were places to go beyond them.

I really like this. A nice snapshot of Jonas as a kid and the background of political mistrust between the three countries on his planet.

Thanks. I have heard and read stories about life during the Cold War in our own world, and can only figure that the same type of paranoia and mistrust would be magnified in a world with only three major governments, all of near-equal power.
