I love stranded fic, and funnily enough there has never been any with Daniel and Vala that I can recall?
Can't wait for part 2!

I do, however, adore playing with having Daniel as the mentor/protector to Vala in an echo of the way Jack taught and protected him in the early years :)

That is exactly one of the things that drew me to their relationship in the first place. Daniel putting his big boy pants on and choosing to be responsible for someone else.
It was such a healthy choice for his character development wise as he'd been so in his own head for most of the series. She brought him out of himself, and if he happen to bring a little snark on the way, well that's just part of the charm. :P

This is soo true!
I've been watching a number of the older episodes recently and am continual amazed at how much growth Daniel has gone through. I really miss the current Daniel when I am watching the older episodes. Not that he hasn't always been a delight, but I'm too used to Daniel's more commanding presence. He was always a driving force, but he so lacked experience.

"Oranians," he muttered in disgust.
LOL I hate 'em, too! I mean, I love them as antagonists from a narrative standpoint, but WTF are those things? Reptilian? No remorse that they got sucked out of the pel'tac in the crash.
"Actually, I think he said 'dirty rat'," Vala shrugged.
Jack! Jaaaaack. I love it when he's in a story -- even when he's not. :D
Daniel wondered what had possessed Vala to hold hands with him like a pair of lovesick teenagers.
Good lawd, Daniel! I guess not having been married for a decade reverts him back to an adolescent with an immature view on relationships.
On the planets which had little or none of the mineral, she could sometimes use that to locate Stargates or caches of Goa'uld technology, or at least get a sense if there even was one within a few miles.I've always wanted to build an action/adventure on ( ... )
