Summary: Nino's 30th Birthday and Ohno planning stuff♥
Disclaimer: I'd be so happy to own Arashi as a whole or at least one of them. Sadly I do not.
Author's Note: Part 2 of my own version of a challenge week~ After the
chibi!Nino icons yesterday, I managed to get this finished just in time (technically it's past midnight but technically I don't care). While writing I realized that it has been quite some time since I wrote anything. I had this in my head for some time and originally planned it muuuuuch longer. In the end I realized that it was too repetitive and shortened it to its present length. Considering that it's my first fic in ages and that I finalized it pretty quickly, I'm quite happy with the outcome :) I hope you are enjoying it just as much as I enjoyed thinking it up and writing it.
Ohno was very busy these days. He insisted that he had to re-work his design on this year’s 24hr TV t-shirt several times and hence locked himself in his little atelier. Nino wasn’t fooled though, but he pretended not to notice. He knew Ohno long enough to know that his boyfriend was up to something completely different than a t-shirt design. When Ohno thought that Nino wasn’t looking he couldn’t hide a conspiratorial smile that was so priceless that it warmed Nino’s heart. As things were Nino grudgingly invested into a whole set of new video games to give himself something to do in the evenings.
That was why Nino was not happy to hear that Ohno would have to work on June 17th. He himself had somehow managed to arrange at least a free afternoon and had counted on Ohno to do the same. Well, it can’t be helped, he thought begrudgingly. He’ll be just off doing some promotional stuff and be back before long.
And that was why Nino was just a tiny little bit upset when he heard that Ohno would be gone the entire day. He got real upset though when he took a look at Ohno’s schedule and found him having lots of jobs that surely could’ve waited another day. Knowing how great Ohno was at shifting work when it came to a long anticipated fishing trip, Nino couldn’t help waking up on his birthday in a slightly less than willing-to-celebrate mood.
Ohno had already left by the time Nino got up and trudged towards the bathroom. He had kissed Nino goodbye before he rushed to work and whispered his usual ‘I love you’ which Nino didn’t appreciate quite as much as normally today. After a quick wash Nino walked over into their kitchen. He might just as well get himself some coffee and then get ready for work. Nino started the coffee machine and opened a cupboard to retrieve a mug. On the shelves stood a white box with a light yellow ribbon tied around it. With an affectionate smile Nino took it down and opened the box.
Wrapped into a beautiful white paper he found a mug. It looked like their other cups except that Ohno had decorated almost every free inch. Drawn in minuscule detail were all the things Nino liked to have at breakfast - milk buns, apples, melon pan, strawberries, a bowl of rice, a cup of steaming hot coffee. Completely awed Nino studied the many little pictures Ohno had created. There were also several little versions of himself and Ohno, lots and lots of little hearts and next to the handle a tiny DS.
Nino pulled out a card that had been stuffed inside the cup and started reading.
Ohayou, Kazu-chan~
From now on you can enjoy your first coffee of the day and think about me all at once :) And when you have some coffee at noon. And in the afternoon. It will even work at night!
Satoshi
PS: Happy Birthday!
PPS: I love you♥
To give himself no time to start crying Nino quickly checked on the coffee machine. “What makes him think that he’s not the first thing I think about in the morning or that he’s not always on my mind?” Nino grumbled his cheeks burning. He grabbed the coffee to pour himself some when he spotted the inscription Ohno had made at the inside of the mug’s bottom.
World’s best Kazu Wife!
“No, really!” but Nino couldn’t help the smile that spread across his face. He was happy.

When Nino returned from work -later than he had feared and much later than he had hoped- he found a message on their answering machine (in fact there were several messages, but what made the message in question so particular was that it was from Ohno.) Frowning slightly he selected Ohno’s message and pressed ‘play’.
Hello, Kazu-chan~
Could you please look into the cabinet where we keep our sheets? It’s kinda urgent. I’ll call again!
“Huh?” Completely bewildered Nino walked across the hall into their bedroom. He opened said cabinet and found another, this time pretty large box on top of the sheets. It was square-shaped and when Nino pulled it out he almost dropped it because it was quite heavy. In three strides he reached their bed and dropped first the box and then himself on it. Pulling off the lid he found a pretty scrapping book. There was a note attached to it that read:
Dear Kazu-chan!
Arashi is proud to present this book. You will find it filled with 15 years of Ninomiya Kazunari and band. Since we know that you don’t like people to see you crying, we decided to give it to you like this. We will still know that you are going to be crying within the next ten seconds (it’s been 15 years after all).
Happy Birthday!
Jun ♥ Masaki ♥ Sho ♥ Satoshi
PS: By the way, we cancelled your plans for tomorrow evening; we’re picking you up at seven. And make sure that Leader is dressed for the occasion ^^y Yes, we haven’t forgotten about last year!!
Swallowing a huge lump in his throat Nino opened the book. It was filled with photos and inscriptions. There were short anecdotes and memorabilia like the receipt of the party they gave for him when he got his first movie role (he had no idea that Jun had kept it all the years - the mere idea that anyone else had held onto it for a whole decade and still knew where to find it was laughable) or the train tickets for their first concerts. It was obvious that they had all spent an immense amount of time on collecting all these. Ohno must then have compiled everything into this book. Overwhelming love poured out of it and Nino had a hard time seeing anything because he was crying so much. Every single page was filled with memories and Nino found himself to be so happy.
Twice he had been surprised today and twice he had been completely baffled. His friends and his lover had really gone out of their way. Thinking that nothing would be able to top this day, Nino snuggled into the pillows and busied himself once more into his book. Little did he know that he was wrong.

It was already evening when Nino resurfaced from his trip down memory lane. He got himself a glass of water when his mobile vibrated signalling an incoming text. He retrieved from his bag and found a message from Ohno.
Ka~~zu~!
I’m finished for today and will be heading home after I changed back into my clothes. There’s another box for you in my bedside cabinet, second drawer from above.
Satoshi
PS: I know I promised Cha-han but can we order something instead?
Nino tipped a short ‘Sure! Get home soon~’ before he headed over to Ohno’s side of the bed. He found the box just like Ohno had written him and yet another card.
Nino opened the envelope, pulled out the card and laughed loudly. Shaking his head with an affectionate smile he carefully pulled the lid of the box and saw a collection of delicious-looking chocolates. He read the card once again and couldn’t help the grin that crept across his face.
It takes one hour of sex to burn off the calories from five pieces of chocolate.
Eat the whole box - I’m having plans with you tonight.
Still grinning Nino helped himself.

The pun at the end sadly isn't mine. I found it
here and instantly knew that I'd have to use it. In fact there are lots of cards that should be turned into Ohmiya fanfiction :)
My original plan to do a post a day this week might not work out for tomorrow. Part 3 is a) having a little attitude that needs correcting and b) we have a heat wave and my brain just melts. I'll give my best though to get it finished this week (and after all we're supposed to get lots of rain and thunder following Thursday).
