I've lauded the production abilities of many of today's pop producers as the reason behind the success of many artists (eg Pharrell Williams for Britney Spears' "Toxic"). I never thought I'd hear an amazing producer express so clearly that it's not about the music, but rather about the video.

I can't stand music videos Co. What is the point? Isn't music supposed to go in your EARS, not your eyes? I love the Lewis Black sketch on that, by the way. YouTube it if you haven't seen it. Besides, music videos supply you with images to songs that force you to think a certain way about music. I'd rather hear a song, extrapolate my own images to it, and always remember listening to it at a certain period in my life. That's the real power of music -- it can remind you of times, places, and people you've long since lost touch with. And that's what watching music videos often robs people of.

MTV sucks. There, I said it.
