I know it's difficult to leave friends that you have at a job (especially if you have a tendency to neglect to keep in touch). However, my recommendation would be to go with the better paying job (that might allow you to buy new glasses). You do end up finding friends where you work (or at least most of the time, someone to talk to occasionally).

I work in a stuffy lab with people that range from nice but annoying to not nice but at least humorous. Personalities clash and it always happens everywhere. But I would say to do what will be a better job for you.

having just left the job i started in (it sucked, but was all i knew)... i have to say, screw up the courage and go with your gut instinct that there is a better thing out there and you deserve it. if the opportunity is there for you to advance to a better paying job, take it. no job is worth staying in just for coworkers, cool as they may be, and true friends from work, will keep in touch. otherwise, they're just friendly coworkers. read my post from last week please, too tired to send out any more requests. :-p take care.
