I'm not technically sure if these sorts of posts are allowed here or not, but I figured I'd give it a shot and worst case scenario is this post gets deleted.
I was wondering how you guys see/portray Michael, Terry and Anthony? Because I realized I have no idea how the rest of fanfiction sees them-physically or personality-wise. I have my own versions of them in my head that I enjoy writing, but I don't know how these versions line up with the rest of the world.
I figured there was no better place to ask then here! :) So how do you guys see them? What kind of personalities do they have, what do they act like, what do they enjoy and how do they interact with one another?
This is how I characterize them:
Michael Corner
I see him as a bit of a pompous ass, really-but only in the sense that he's got a slight ego and isn't tactful enough to keep it to himself. He thinks he's got all the good ideas, and can be very stubborn. He's a bit of a pessimist and a cynic, and it takes him a while to get warmed up to an idea. Once he is, though, he goes all out for whatever cause he's decided is worthy/just/a good idea/etc. In my more comical portrayal of Michael, he also thinks he's really smooth with the ladies, and a lot more worth paying attention to than anyone else.
Because in the books what we know of Michael is that he dated Ginny and they broke up because he was a sore loser over a Quidditch match. We see that he was reluctant of the DA and scoffed it at first, but then in the 7th book we hear that he's still involved in it and even rescued a 1st year from the Carrows. So in my mind that built a picture of an asshole kid who thinks he's hot stuff but who, underneath it all, is very intelligent and has a good heart. He's maybe a little reckless, in my opinion, and lacks tact as a general thing. He'll speak his mind and be blunt about things, not always with good results.
Terry Boot
We don't really see or hear much about Terry in the books, so my depiction of him is very much based on the few lines of dialogue he has, and how I feel a character that hangs out with Michael would have to compliment him. So Terry I see as a very exuberant, excitable fellow who is very easygoing. Maybe a little worrisome of trivial things, since it's trivial things he likes to tinker around with/pay attention to. He's studious and smart but enjoys having a good time. He likes to argue with Michael and try to get him to see the other side of the coin when Michael is too stubborn to. He and Anthony are probably the ones who got Michael to stick with the DA in the first place. Terry enjoys pointing out the holes in Michael's arguments and bickering with people. He's much more optimistic than Michael and so they butt heads often. He's more tactful than Michael and tries to cover Michael's blunders. He is, however, less reckless than Michael and can occasionally come off as fretful. He likes to be thorough, and there's not always room to be thorough when Michael's got it into his head that he has to do something.
Anthony Goldstein
Anthony is quiet, a listener. He likes to keep to himself around strangers, but doesn't hesitate to jump in where Terry and Michael are involved. He's fair and tries to keep as unbiased an opinion as possible. He's calm and collected when Terry is excited or Michael is irritated. He keeps a watchful eye over his friends, but more often that not he's along for the ride. He's constantly amused by his friends, and this is no secret. He's maybe more insightful than them when it comes to how other people outside of their bubble function. He's also very protective of Michael and Terry, and very compassionate. Admittedly Anthony is the character I have the least fleshed out, and that I write less often than Michael or Terry, so my image of him is sort of vague and blurry still.
How does this match up to what you guys think, or what you enjoy reading in these three? I'm honestly very curious, because I'm sort of disconnected from the general opinion on this one.
