Hi, I hope you don't mind that I added you as a friend. I think I have talked to you before on myspace ages and ages ago. I grew up with Kari Durham. And I saw that you are one of Leann's friends, I met her through LJ. If you don't want to add me back I totally understand! I thought that we might have some stuff in common!

I am SO sorry, when I wasn't posting in LJ as much, I had the notifications turned off, so no comments went to my email... I just saw this now! Added :)

Hey its Jenn (Ariadne034) and apparently I selected the wrong option when I made a new journal and somehow defriended myself from everyone. Please add me back and I won't rename myself again EVER. :)

Just a thank you =) pinksparkles11 May 19 2009, 18:04:02 UTC
I have a sister-in-law that has her 9 month old facing forward in the car seat already. I remembered that you had commented on Leanne's picture of Blake facing forward, so I went back to see if there was more after that point. Which I was more than happy to find the youtube link that you posted. I have been arguing with her that even though he can hold up his head, it is too dangerous for him to ride facing forward. She also takes him out of his car seat going down the road to breastfeed him, and that scares me. Like so many people, she rattled on about how he screams when backwards, and that she can interact with him, ect.

Anyways, I just wanted to thank you for posting that link. Not only for me to send to my sister-in-law but also anyone else that may read Leanne's journal, because I had the same exact thought that you did when I saw the picture.

I had lunch with Kari a few weeks ago and she had made a comment that you were expecting. Congratulations!

Thanks again!!
Tara

I'm so happy that link was helpful! When my son was that age (he's 4 now) the information just wasn't out there... at least, not that I saw. So we turned him facing forward as soon as he turned a year old. With the next one, I plan on rear facing for as long as humanly possible. :) People who don't keep their kids strapped in really infuriate me... honestly, if they'd kept them strapped in from the very beginning, no exceptions, then their kids probably wouldn't scream and complain about being in a car seat, because that's just WHAT YOU DO when you get in the car. If they don't know any differently, they won't have anything to complain about.

I totally agree! I know when both of mine were little they were tall for their ages and getting them in the regular infant seat rear facing was a pain, but I did it for their safety! And you can buy that next size and still put it rear facing. So that is what I did and turned it around when I was comfortable with it. Mine both at 7 and 10 use booster seats as well. Taylor is probably tall enough that his knees reach over the seat, but the placement of that seat belt just hits their necks and scares me that it would choke them in an accident.

Even if your kids do scream and yell every time you put them in a car seat, it's worth a little hassle, inconvenience and annoyance if it means keeping them safe.

I bought a Britax so my son (who is very tall for his age) could still be in a 5 point harness. I'm very scared of booster seats at this age! Ha!
