Doctor!
Doctor?
Are you sure you're -?
You look so much different. So much younger... Well, never mind. I'm glad to see you anyway.
Of course I look different too. It's been ten years! And let me tell you, Doctor, that wasn’t South Croydon. It was all the way across town and I didn't have any money for the bus. Have you ever learned how to steer this old bucket of bolts?
Oh, I did make it home eventually. How was Gallifrey?”
My career? It's doing quite well. They don't put me on tea parties anymore: it’s mostly politics these days. It doesn't hurt to have an ‘in’ with UNIT .
The Brig? Well, of course I keep in touch. I get some of my best stories from him - the ones they'll let me print, anyway. And speaking of UNIT, I saw Jo Jones just last month.
You remember Jo! Jo Grant. We get together now and then to talk about you. She said to
give you her love if I ever saw you again. She would have named her oldest boy after you, but she didn't know your name.
- Yours couldn’t have been all that much worse. She named him Dafydd. She and Cliff have two boys and a girl now, and they’re off in the wilds of the Andes again, doing more research.
No, I don’t see much of Mike Yates or Benton, but I see quite a lot of Harry. I married him.
Yes, I really did. I know, it wasn’t exactly what I expected to do either - but I’m glad I did. We’re happy.
It has been an awfully long time, hasn’t it?
Come with you again? I’d love to. Just a quick trip round the moon? Are you sure you can manage that, Doctor? The last time I went off with you, I didn’t think I’d ever make it home. But I never did get to see Cassiopaeia…
I’d love to - but no. No, I can’t. I have two children myself, you know, and they’ll be home from school in an hour. Don’t you remember, that’s what happened in the story. Wendy grew up. We both have, Jo and I.
You’ll have to come back when Jenny gets bigger - she’s only seven. If you keep getting younger, you’ll be her age when you turn up again! You will turn up again, won’t you?
But please, won’t you come in for a cup of tea? Or something? There’s so much we have to catch up on…
Oh, must you go? You’ve only just gotten here.
I can’t go with you, but can’t you stay? For just a little while…
