Has just finished Starship Troopers. And he wishes he were part of the Mobile Infantry.

It's hard to say what makes Heinlein so good, Starship Troopers only had two battle scenes and the rest was basically a sounding board for Heinlein's views of life and politics. And normally I hate that sort of thing.

That scene at the start where a couple of guys trash an entire city... I still remember that from 30 years ago.

The only Heinlein I've read is Have Space Suit, Will Travel. But I liked it, even though I'm not usually much of a sci-fi person. SPOILER I especially liked the trial scene with the Roman centurion. He was awesome. And, having read Hamlet, I can appreciate his sentiments with regard to Polonius.

Oh, I remember that one! Yeah, the book was worth reading for the Centurion alone.
