burnin'

The light coming in the windows is somewhat orange in tone. Outside, you can see a light ashfall covering the cars. It's very eerie.

The fires aren't too near me, but the entire LA Basin is full of smoke, and I don't know if it's psychosomatic or if it's real, but I swear my lungs hurt and my thinking is not up to snuff. Bleh.

Actual visible ashfall? No, it's not psychosomatic, at least not entirely. It sounds like sitting on the downwind side of the campfire. People move away for a reason.

Sorry to hear it's so bad there. We've got drought here (1000 year level) and nobody is doing a damn thing about it, that I can see. People still run the water like crazy, and all the conservation measures seem to be voluntary. For example, you can still wash your car with a running hose, but only on Saturdays. FTF!

I've been wondering how all my CA people are doing.

I'm not surprised your lungs hurt--that's a whole lot of particulate matter to be inhaling.

I check to make sure nothing was burning near you. We had one fire earlier this year near Gilroy that kept the air smoky for over a week, so I can't even imagine how bad it is with so many out-of-control blazes and high winds.
Yikes!
