grocery stores

For some reason, while Wikipedia surfing, I ran across the category of Supermarkets of the United States. I found a need to score myself on how many of them I've been to. (43 out of 210, for those interested.) New meme, maybe?

1. With the exception of Save Mart you have been to every store that I have, except you have been to many many more.

2. Have you really never been to a Save Mart?

I am not sure...looking at the entry for Save Mart, I can see that FoodMaxx is a subsidiary, and I've been to that. Do you think that counts?

Only if you take it to the MAXX while at FoodMaxx! (Now their jingle is stuck in my head.)

Did we not go to a grocery store while you were in Austin? Because it would have been an HEB.

The first time I heard someone say Food Lion, I thought it was "food line": I thought they were going down to the soup kitchen to get dinner with the homeless people.

I think that my list is right -- there may be some that I'm forgetting because I only went there once or something. But i don't think that I erroneously marked any, even though I'm only going by my own memory (and didn't, say, check to see that X Market was in a state that I'd been to or something).

And, as long as I'm spamming your comments, it's interesting how we've been to nearly completely different supermarket chains. It's because we live and have lived in different places, I'm just surprised that there's not more overlap.

I count 22--though I'm sure I've been to others whose name I don't remember. Also, there is a separate Giant Chain (it might be the carlisle one) that I've been to, and D'Agastino's in New York. Also I've bought groceries at Target and Sam's Club.

I suppose the shortness of my list comes of always having lived in the mid-atlantic.

You have been to both Giant-Carlisle (in PA) and Giant-Landover (in DC). Giant Eagle is in Pittsburgh.

Woo, between yours and Christine's, I can add three to my list! I actually have also been to Giant Eagle in Pittsburgh.
