Is this some attempt at entrapment?

Centrelink appears to have mistakenly paid me about $900 when I should not be receiving a payment.

Am I their one millionth customer or something???

I think I'd best call them and bring it to their attention on Monday, and resist spending the money.

that sucks - let's dangle this money in front of you and we dare ya to spend it ! But... your friend is right, they'd catch ya and want it back back right then and there and it would be your fault.

Put the money in an (untouchable) savings account, and when they have realised the mistake, and ask for it back, give it to them, you keep the interest.
Whether this be 2 weeks or 2 years. :)

the problem with that plan is the reason there untouchable is becouse you cant touch them for like 3 months withch means if they want it back he want be able to give it too him, oh and also you need a min of $1,000.

Are you suggesting that Lemming doesn't otherwise have $100 to his name?

A few hours ago that would've been accurate, but I spoke to someone from Centrelink, and amongst the fuckups, there was actually an "employment bonus" or somesuch, which is basically an encouragement award for getting a job. I'll still have to pay most of the money back to them. I'm awaiting a total and a very cordial apology first.

I was watching Edward Scissorhands the other day (well, I wasn't really, but it makes the rest of this comment make sense) and according to him you should buy gifts for all of your friends.
