I know I'm bad about sweeping in and going "YOU CAN DO THAT!" But... a quilt.. YOU CAN DO THAT. Even by hand sewing! It's especially easy if you skip a few steps. Instead of batting inside and cotton quilt backing, Use fleece for the bottom. Or even easier, make a two layer fleece quilt. They can be done with no sewing by tying the edges together. Or my favorite.. T-shirt quilt! (I'm sorry, but you just poked my brain because I'm in the planning-buying materials phase of making a quilt/comforter for our bed.) :)
But even traditional quilts aren't too hard. To start you could make larger squares for less sewing, and it can totally be done by hand. You can start with a baby quilt to practice. I like sitting on the couch with a decent movie or box set and a lap full of fabric.
Arrg, wish you lived closer, I'd make you make a quilt. :)
Grin. So I have, like, a block of a quilt that I hand-sewed. It was a bit arduous and a tiny bit annoying but I have this idea that I should just hand-sew a bunch of random blocks and one day put them all together.
I'm only mildly ambitious :)
On the other hand, you could just MAKE me a quilt... :)
i love jim parsons! and sheldon cooper! and i'm sooo frickin excited that season two comes out on dvd tomorrow and the new season starts next week!
just a fyi... check out some information about that diet mountain dew you're addicted to. i used to drink a lot of sodas, but i've cut back on the amount i drink per day. i used to love diet pepsi, but i've since switched to only clear diet sodas - diet 7up or sprite zero. mtn dew and diet mtn dew both have brominated vegetable oil in them. check this out:
also... while i know you said you drink diet, do a quick google search for "children of the mountains" and "mountain dew mouth". it really makes us all think twice about reaching for the sodas!
That is really interesting, especially considering how often I've gotten headaches since I switched. I had an over 24 hour headache complete with nausea and vomiting last weekend. I'm not saying it was the Diet Mountain Dew's fault, but it's a thought to keep in mind. I wasn't joking when I said I felt something in it was addictive - I want it over water during the day and I only drink soda with meals as a whole. So yeah, I think it's worth a change. Thanks for the article. That's a little scary.

I know it's easier said that done, but you can get a very respectable sewing machine for under $100.

Nod, I lust at the cheaper sewing machines often. It's just not in the budget right now, but it's not far from my mind :)
