Cannination: The Learninating

So my first batch of jelly came out quite tasty but much too sweet for my preference. It does have a lovely apple cider flavour and a pretty red gold colour and I am sure lots of people will like it. I think it may go very well as a pancake topping or on those crepes Pipkin makes for tea. Would also be excellent on scones with some clotted cream. ( ( Read more... )

One jelly for you.

I won't get to do any canninating this year, but I'm looking forward to trying it next year immensely.

I just hope I can maintain an interest in this. I have a sneaking suspicion this is just the beginning of my "nesting" phase.

But I do love to cook and bake and things like that so I doubt all the supplies I got will sit around and gather dust ever.

shanny's moving out soon; i do believe that airport house needs its own jar of april's fabulous sweet cider jelly.!

thanks for the tip about canadian tire [it never occurred to me..] maybe i can get me a proper hot-water processor, instead of using a stewpot that only holds 5 half-pint jars at a time.

[..now you see why you need a big pot and a long spoon!*]

It shall be yours!

I got one of those with a rack in it and it is super big!

(I had to lift up the pot to prevent it boiling over - didn't work very well but not too much mess was made)
