I'm probably the only person on Earth who hasn't read Hunger Games (I don't even know what it's all about!) but this caught my attention;
Everyone wants Robert Downey, Jr., but Haymitch is not handsome. He's not charasmatic. He's a drunken, broken man who lives in filth and sleeps in his own vomit.
First, F YEAH for proper casting! RDJ is awesome but he is always so charismatic I just can't see him be able to play a man that fits the description of Haymitch you have there without people being "on his side", you know? Even if he played a complete mess people would love him. Second, I actually find Paul Giamatti pretty damn charismatic. He's so damn hilarious and at the same time a total BAMF in Shoot 'em Up, plus I'm very fond of his voice. :P
Oh my gosh, you really should give The Hunger Games a try if you need something good to read. They are like literary crack! You will become addicted within the first two chapters, I swear! Dystopian future, evil government that forces children to fight to the death as a way to keep the citizens in line. Amazing.
And really, almost everyone wants RDJ as Haymitch and I'm just, like, "Are we reading the same book?" Haymitch isn't a bad guy, quite the contrary, he's just a broken guy. He's described explicitly as being "middle-aged" and "paunchy" and his spirit is so broken that he constantly keeps himself drunk just so he doesn't have to feel anything. His house is filled with filth and he frequently passes out in his own vomit. Can you really see RDJ playing that character

I want to do a dream cast for The Dark Tower movie(s)! I *finally* found Susanah. I don't know her name, but I saw a movie with her in it recently. I have to find it.
CRAAAAAAAAP. I can't EFFING remember what I was watching! All I remember is that Justin was with me and I made a comment about having to check IMDB because that girl would be THE Susannah. Of course he doesn't remember me making this comment.
The only things we've watched lately have been 2012, some documentary about pot growers, Shameless and Modern Family. It's not Thandie Newton, either. craaaaaaaaaaaaaap.
Aww! Thanks, bb! You already know that while reading the books, I pictured Johnny Weir as Cinna for some weird reason, but he's not an actor. LOLZ! So when I started really thinking about actors to be Cinna, it was Alan Cumming that immediately came to mind. He's a bit older than I imagine Cinna to be, but I think he'd absolutely rock the role. :)
And let's be honest, Cristoph Waltz is a master at playing evil characters. Am I right?! I can so easily see him as Snow...
I can't wait for this movie and they haven't even started filming it yet! :P
Thank you! I think Alan would be absolutely splendid as Cinna. He'd crush that part if they gave him the chance. He's a bit older than what most picture for Cinna though, so I doubt he'd even be considered...
As for Coin, I imagined her as older, but not old. I think if they put Julianne Moore in a sleek grey wig, she'd fit the part perfectly.
They're doing auditions and readings for Peeta this week. I'm getting excited!!!
i'm not sure abt charismatic but i've never found Downey Jr. to be handsome and a lot of the time he looks pretty scummy so he could probly pass physically as Haymitch but i like your choice too.
all your choices look good and woot to Julianne Moore! i use her as one of my Bajorans i used to RPG.
after i pay off the hideous fine to the library -_- i need to request the last book so i can find out WTF happens, haha. and then there's a start of a new series that just came out that is another dystopian-type universe that looks very cool and i wanna read it. it's called Wither.
I suppose if Downey put on a few pounds and grew a grizzled beard, he might make a pretty good Haymitch. I can kind of see it. :P
And The Chemical Garden trilogy sounds amazing! I love dystopian stories, especially those with female protagonists. Will most definitely be picking that up! Thank you so much for pointing it out to me! ♥!

I can kind of see it. :Poh i'm sure if he got chosen for Haymitch (or any role where he had to LOOK like a Haymitch), he would. actors do it all the time. Renee Zellweger got to go on junk food binges and skip gym time to play Bridget Jones. i read recently abt Hugh Jackman having to go on a massive protein diet and bulk up program for yet another Wolverine movie. the gossip rags of lesser substance have made covers going "OHNOES LOOK HOW SKINNY ____ HAS GOTTEN WHAT COULD BE WRONG WITH THEM!?" and half the time you find out that so-and-so is playing a street person/a prisoner of war/an emaciated-looking villain in their next big flick so the role orders them to look anorexic and/or wasted. i think Colin Farrell was the last one to be shown like this a couple months ago
