Work has been wonderful recently. (Here: italics without irony.) Louis Armstrong’s rendition of ‘La Vie En Rose’ walked me through a power-hour of cashiering a week ago; funnily, it’s those lovely old slow songs that get me through the high-stress moments the best, as if outer hubbub bows to Satchmo blues. I hear superglue really does wonders. Just today, my roomie shared an article she found online where some mickey "plastic surgeon" used it to seal up her patients after injections!! I love that you and your Dad danced to David Bowie tunes. You should dance while the superglue dries to . . . um. . . One Headlight, by The Wallflowers.

Trust me, the shouting was very tempting at the time. Dad told me later that he waited outside, expecting at least an NNNNG (or some other combination of consonants at high decibels) to break out. In retrospect, I probably ought to have picked that over broken inflatable mattress.

I agree! That biographical film from a few years back, titled La Vie En Rose if I'm not mistaken, turned me on to her music and since it's become some of my favorite drinking tunes(plus OutKast's Stankonia). I think I favor the Armstrong version, but only because there's such a brassy, meandering warmth to it, a welcome heaviness.
