I think you pick layouts for your journal in Your Settings/Edit Style. It gives you a bunch to choose from, and you can customize a bit.

Good to see you over here in LJ. I'd be happy to pick you! :) I'll add you to my friends list; just add me back when you have a chance.

Let me know if you have any questions about getting started on LJ--it can be very confusing at first! However, it is nice to be able to control who reads your posts. You can post stuff that's a lot more personal that you can on the public forum of the WC.
