As I’ve no-doubt said, I’ve been vacillating about selling the camper rather than pursue a life of campgrounds and potential hairy eyeballs. Vacillating because the hobby is interesting to me, vintage campers are cool as hell, but RV camping seems really redneck-y and I’m not ready to go back in the closet

Perhaps you can find a larger trailer to renovate back to fabulousness? And then set up a Facebook group for gay campers in your region? There must be plenty of others you could meet up with here and there? Many of these things just need someone to get the ball rolling.

I'm sad that it feels like your camping adventure is ending almost before it began. It would have been fun to meet up on the road sometime! However, I totally get where you're coming from in that you had one sort of encounters in mind and what you experienced was something entirely else.

I can also relate to having a partner who is not particularly interested in the whole thing. HCD has only gone twice and that was only under duress. Granted his and my relationship is very different than yours, but it would of course be nice if this is something we shared. Of course there are lots of things that would be nice if they were something we shared, so I've grown rather used to it
