I have been reading the Tanakh for recreation lately (for those who don't know, that's the Hebrew acronym for Torah- the five books of Moses, Nevi'im- Prophets, Ketuvim- writings). Psalm 137 is my favorite Bible verse (yeah, I know, the atheist has a favorite Bible verse...). It's just beautifully written and definitely touching.

If you have some free time, I recommend reading Ishmael by Daniel Quinn. It has some really interesting insights into human nature, and has a bit about the Bible (Genesis, in particular) which will just blow your mind. It's excellent.

Dude, Song of Song rocks. I love that we have it direct from God that sex is AWESOME. I do also buy the whole God/Church metaphor, though, just because crazy erotic love language is the closest that we have to understanding the level at which God loves us. He doesn't want to drink the milk and honey from under our tongues or anything, but that's the closest thing we have. Still, there's no way it's entirely symbolic.
