Okay, since people have been wondering what I have gotten up to over the past two weeks, I'm going to post a few recaps. This first one deals with just my first two days in Japan - but hey, a lot happened. Cue lj cut!
I am very proud of you that you won this award~ Especially for your first publication and one you've been working on at that. It's VERY VERY rare that first-time manga artists with their first work could win an award, especially an award as prestigious as this. X3 *jealous that you went to Japan* Congratulations~ ^____^
I have noticed I am turning up at different ages in various reports...so far no one has quoted me at being OLDER than my actual age though, which I guess is good. Thanks! We need to go for dumplings again sometime...I will be in Melbourne in September....ish...
The badges were good - pretty much the one thing in the Ghibli shop that was cheap (aside from the Jiji stamps and the Kiki stamp-pad).
The language barrier wasn't as bad as I thought it would be; even if I heard my name occasionally I could tell they weren't saying mean things about me. :D I have a feeling cantonese will be a good language to know for future awards - the field was really dominated by east-asian mangaka in the final 19...I think about 13 of them were east-asian. One was from Bulgaria though, which was a bit random...
Sounds like you had an incredible time!! That is such an amazing award :3 Congratulations! I would have been so incredibly nervous in that situation XD I haven't even been in a plane, so that itself would be a goal of mine, lol~
Wow, never been in a plane?? Planes are fun, but I get a bit nervous on takeoff/landing (and I hate the fact that this is usually the point at which the baby in the seat behind you starts crying). Thanks, and no problem!
